Our Story

How It All Began Garret and Kyrsti first met in 2019 through mutual college friends (the “real” first meeting depends on who you ask). What started as casual hangouts quickly turned into something easy and familiar — the kind of connection that felt like it had already been there. A few weeks later, she reached out — and from there, things unfolded naturally. ⸻ The Early Days Those early months were full of laughter, spontaneous date nights, and a growing sense that they’d found something rare. They met each other’s people and made space in their routines. Whether a drive-in movie theater, long car rides stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, or the dog park with their favorite girl, they’d realized just how much fun they had simply being together. Life felt easier and lighter. ⸻ The First Trip Not long after, they planned their first camping trip — choosing the destination by scribbling six options on a napkin and rolling a pair of dice. They both landed on Zion National Park, and that week became one of the most defining parts of their story. “Roll the die” even stuck as a phrase they’d use for years to come (and the muse for their matching tattoo!). ⸻ The Middle Miles In the years that followed, they grew — together and individually. They navigated long-distance seasons, career changes, apartment moves, and personal milestones. Through it all, they had a rhythm: one person chasing growth, the other holding things down. They took turns supporting, pushing, resting, and showing up for each other. That rhythm of “passing the baton” became the foundation of their relationship, and what allowed them to soak up every bit of this beautiful 5-year leg of their story. ⸻ The Proposal & What Comes Next In August 2024, Garret proposed at Convict Lake — their favorite place in the world. She said yes with their dog Goose (a little too) nearby and the Eastern Sierras behind them. They stayed off the grid for a few days, holding that moment close and soaking it all in. Now, after six years, they’ve built their home and their life together— and on September 19th, they’ll get to step into the next season and all the seasons to come, hand in hand as husband and wife. They’ve always said: We have all the time in the world. And whatever comes next — We’ll roll the die, together ♡
