A valid U.S passport is required for all travelers flying to Mexico. Make sure it is not expired and has at least 6 months of validity from your travel date.
Flight
There are several airlines that offer nonstop flights from LAX to CUN including Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, United, Aeromexico etc. The average flight time is 4.5 to 5 hours. Once you arrive at CUN, you will go through immigration and customs. Be sure to keep your tourist card (FMM, which is given during the flight/ upon entry). Playa del Carmen is about 45-60 minutes from the airport. We recommend booking transportation in advance for a smoother arrival.

Flying out of TJ is often more affordable than flying out of San Diego or LAX! Flights to Cancun range from $100-$250 per person, round trip.
