The Story

Summer 2016 - Spring 2018

Jefferson and Tessa were introduced to each other by mutual friend Andrew Davis shortly after they both returned to living in Florida. During the fall of 2016 their friendship grew from small conversation at group events, to longer and more encompassing conversations sitting in his driveway or wandering the evening sidewalks of downtown Fort Myers. It wasn't long into their relationship that they felt fairly inseparable, and both wondered what would happen if either of them moved away again, as they had both previously planned to do. While Tessa remained oblivious, Jefferson decided to take action against the threat of future separation, and asked her out on a date in December. Despite her naive surprise, Tessa was thrilled. Having formed a strong friendship already, beginning a relationship together made a lot of sense. After much confusion on Tessa's part over why Jefferson would want to date her, she eventually realized that since Jefferson was such an out-of-her-league catch, she should shut up and just let it be. Took her long enough though. After many adventures together including hiking, kayaking, walking across Spain for a summer, road trips, learning to pray together, getting to know each other's families, and an insane amount of time driving to one another's neck of the woods, they were quite, quite sure that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives working side by side towards the same goals - primarily faith and family. In November of 2017 they began to talk to their parish priest about the finer details of matrimony. So in January of 2018, with approval of the church and both of their families, Jefferson took Tessa to the same spot they'd spent several happy hours the night he'd first asked her on a date, got down on one knee, and asked her the question she had awaited with much anticipation. Again oblivious to Jefferson's timing, Tessa made only the slightest attempts to not be weird as she said "yes." And that, my friends, brings us to today!

Please pray for our marriage!

Among many others, we pray to Sts. Timothy and Maura, martyrs of the Catholic Church, as we careen our way towards a happy and holy marriage. Please pray to them for us as well!
