This is a great scenic drive that takes you to many amazing views of the protected shoreline. My favorite is the one with a platform 450 feet above lake level, it gives you a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Lake Michigan shoreline. This is great for kids to play in the sand and run up and down the hill. Be careful! Don’t run all the way down, it takes a LONG time to come back up!
Lake ann brewing company is owned by my uncle, Matt Therrien. Enjoy a hand crafted brew while listening to a local band play on the stage outside. Don’t worry if you don’t like beer! They also have a variety of ciders, meads, and wines for you to enjoy and for the kids, they have soda from a local place called Northwoods Soda!
Welcome to the Cherry Capital of the WORLD! Cherry Republic has some crazy good treats and food. They specialize in all things cherry (duh!) but some of my favorites are their chocolate-covered cherries, their cherry wine called “Conservancy” and “Balaton” and their sour cherry gummies! SO GOOD! Come in for a free snack and wine tasting!
Platte River is a great place to have some drinks and float down the crystal clear river. With its sandy bottoms, it’s easy to have fun with some friends. Grab some drinks and rent a canoe, kayak, or tube and link up to have some fun! This is a beautiful river that opens up to Lake Michigan. You can rent your stuff at Riverside Canoes and they will be able to shuttle you back to your car.
For $42 dollars round trip via ferry, you can explore one of the most beautiful lighthouses and islands in Lake Michigan. The ferry departs from Leland at 10:00 AM and arrives to the island at 11:30 AM. Be sure to pack lunches, snacks, water and plenty of bug spray. This rugged island contains museums and historic buildings and includes a myriad of hiking trails. Our favorite part about the island is the history of the people who lived on it. The ferry departs at 4:00 PM and arrives back in Leland at 5:30 PM. This is a perfect activity for Friday.
