Dakota and Sophie met in July of 2022 at Hidden Haven Christian Camp. They served alongside each other and got to know one another over canteen, friendship bracelets, and picnic tables. The day they left camp, Sophie received the most tearjerking Facebook message of her life from Dakota, asking to continue to get to know each other. The next few weeks consisted of late night facetime calls, until she drove to Manhattan, KS to see Dakota again in person. They said their first “I love you” atop the landmark of Manhattan Hill, and became official the next day on an impromptu trip to Kansas City for Whataburger and Legends Mall. The next two years would be spent over facetime calls and routine trips to see each other every two weeks across 103 miles between them. Plenty of Chick-fil-a would be enjoyed, long conversations about nothing at all, and imessage games lost by Sophie over this time. Dakota would answer his call to ministry in February of 2023, and Sophie would navigate this new chapter alongside him. Long distance proved to be hard, but through God alone they made it through. In May of 2024, Sophie would take the leap of her lifetime, and move to Dewey, OK to be closer to Dakota. Shortly after, they were engaged on June 29, 2024 at the place where it all began, Hidden Haven. The happy couple are blessed to have found their soulmate, best friend, and biggest supporter in each other. The two regularly laugh like teenagers, worship the Lord, and make everlasting memories together. From day one, they both knew this was forever. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
