A helicopter, a winery and the restaurant where they went on their first date, Kevin had it all carefully planned out but the surprise was almost ruined by the Uber driver! Thankfully Mel is clueless with directions and was unaware that there was an airport in Moorabbin. Up in the air Mel clearly knew something was up but could not figure out where they were heading. They touched down in the Yarra Valley at Riverstone winery and headed straight to the cellar door for a tasting. Whilst delicious, the tasting had not achieved its goal of calming Kevin’s nerves. Following the tasting, they both headed out to the verandah and Kevin awkwardly dropped to his knee, proceeded to tell Mel how amazing she is and began to slide the ring onto Mel’s finger prior to even asking that all important question. Mel was not having any of it and stopped Kevin in his tracks to request that he asked first. Given you are currently reading this on their wedding website, Mel clearly said YES! Now that the stressful part of the day was over with, the two sat back and enjoyed the view with a cheese platter and a bottle of rosé, and laughed at how awkward Kevin was in asking the big question. Once done at the winery, rather than heading back to Moorabbin, Kevin had requested that the helicopter fly to Essendon airport with a detour over the MCG. Fair to say the detour was definitely for Kevin’s enjoyment and had nothing to do with Mel or the proposal. To finish the day off, Kevin and Mel headed back into the city to Gingerboy. This restaurant was the same place Kevin had organised for their first date and was a nice way to round out a beautiful day. The highlight of the day was obviously getting engaged and being able to share this news and our excitement with our family and friends. The low-light was definitely when Kevin walked into a ladder and almost concussed himself.
