The year was 2019. It was a chilly Thursday night in February when Mike and Lauren first met at a bar/ sandwich shop in her neighborhood. They spent the night chatting, completely ignoring their beers, and enjoying each other's company. Having totally lost track of time, Lauren wondered why she was so hungry and Mike started to notice that the staff were doing the "we're closing" dance. It had been 4 hours since they had sat down... Being a school night, they said their goodbyes, both looking forward to the next time they'd see each other. After a massive snow storm, and a quick trip to Mexico for Lauren, they resumed dating. Pre-COVID, they were able to partake in many fun activities (indoor skydiving, ax throwing, hiking, wine tasting, etc.), realizing more and more how much they liked each other. They made it “official” on Saturday April 6th over a glass of wine on Bainbridge Island after a short hike (how on brand). Fast forward a year, and in March 2020, Lauren and Mike decided that a little global pandemic was not going to keep them apart, and everyone (including the cats) moved into Mike’s Bothell apartment. Despite the initial challenges of working and living in the same space, they found that they really liked living together, and moved into their own space (a cute and quirky home built in 1913 in the oldest neighborhood in Seattle) in May 2020. The house came with a plum and fig tree, as well as other random plants (tobacco anyone?), and a space for Mike to start woodworking. It has been a wonderful home. Throughout it all, their adventures haven’t stopped. From hiking and traveling around the PNW, driving along the historic Route 66, fostering shelter dogs, traveling around Canada and the fateful trip to Iceland -- they have been enjoying making memories together. They are very much looking forward to spending their special day with family and friends as they get to say “I Do!” to each other.
