FAQs

Question

What should I know about Buena Vista?

Answer

It's a perfect Colorado mountain town and you should definitely leave extra time to check out all it has to offer! However, being that awesome means that it's going to be a popular spot this time of year and we HIGHLY recommend everyone start working on securing lodging and accommodations as soon as possible. Check out our "Travel" on this page for the best spots to stay! Also, here's a fun fact - the locals pronounce the town name as "byoo-nuh viss-tuh" so start practicing now!

Question

What can I expect on The Big Day?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 4PM and will, weather permitting, occur outdoors in The Meadows location, a short drive outside of town. For your comfort during the ceremony, be prepared for the possibility of inclement weather. In the unlikely possibility of extreme weather, the ceremony location will be moved to the Ivy Ballroom Courtyard at the Surf Hotel. Due to the rural location, there is no exact street address and detailed directions can be found in the "Schedule" section of this site. Cocktail Hour will begin at the Surf Hotel Ivy Ballroom Courtyard and Riverfront Patio at 5PM and offer an appetizer display, passed hors d'oeuvres, and open bar. The Reception will follow at the Surf Hotel Ivy Ballroom until 10PM. Dinner will consist of a buffet, open bar and wine service with music, dancing, and cake to follow. An After-Party will be available to all our wedding guests at the Wesley & Rose hotel lobby restaurant offering a selection of snacks and a cash bar until 11PM.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our special day adults only - with exceptions for immediate family of the bride and groom. We thank you for your understanding.

Question

What should I expect with the weather?

Answer

At an elevation of nearly 8,000 feet in the High Rockies, the weather in Buena Vista can be somewhat unpredictable - especially in the fall. Ideally, we'd love to see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s with calm, sunny skies. Rain storms, hail, heavy snow, high winds, and everything in-between are an unlikely but real possibility, so be sure to bring appropriate attire and allow extra travel time getting to and around "BV" for these possible scenarios.
