When Kait first laid eyes on Spencer she realized; after months of emailing about a swim team website, that not only was he not just another old-guy swim coach. He was cute and her age! Officially getting to know each other through mutual swim world friends, their paths continued to cross from their first date in March 2013 where Kait learned a very important lesson about Spencer. Bowling on their first date — Kait won. And Spencer and Kait didn’t go bowling together again for at least 2 years. She has since learned that if she enjoys doing competitive things with Spencer she also has to be okay walking away losing. After spending a summer in North Carolina in 2014, Kait returned to Connecticut and rekindled their relations - that's when things began to get more serious. In September 2015, Kait and Spencer decided to move into a beautiful apartment together in Enfield, CT. This move brought some new and interesting road bumps but lead them to the best adventure yet. May 2018, their journey led them to buy a house in Spencer's hometown - Windsor, CT, where on April 6th, 2019 he asked Kait one of the most important questions of their lives! Since then, they've been officially planning a forever together.
Spending the morning coaching swim (Spencer) and doing household crap (Kait). They went to decompress at The Treehouse Brewery (their favorite) in Charlston, MA. After making some purchases and spending some of the beautiful day at the brewery they returned home. Spencer made a nice fire in their backyard while Kait prepared some snacky foods. As they sat by the fire sharing a beer and picking at the snack, Spencer had tried, without much success, to get Kait to put her phone down. When she finally looked up from her device, Spencer was down on one knee with the ring box open asking Kait to spend the rest of their lives together. To which her response was some form of SERIOUSLY?! at least 10 times before answering him with an OF COURSE!
So we are going ahead with our wedding ceremony & reception on our original date, but it looks different than originally planned. • Scratch Stony Creek Brewery and join us in our backyard for our I do’s, brews, food, and dancing if you are comfortable. • We are still inviting our original guest list to our celebration (180+). Masks & plenty of hand sanitizer will be provided. If you are not comfortable joining us — we TOTALLY understand. We still love you and appreciate your support from a distance! • We are doing what we feel is best for us, and agree that you should do what you feel is best for you. 💗 Love, Kait & Spencer
