How we met

It was love at first sight through the Zoom screen when Mosi and McKenna met during an MBA orientation call. After one of them (there's debate on who) realized that they lived in the same apartment building just two doors down from one another, Mosi came over immediately after the call ended to say hello IRL. That began a delightful pattern of Mosi stopping by almost every day to "check-in," and the rest is history!

What does Mosi love about McKenna?

Everything…but if he had to be specific, the things he loves about McKenna are her empathy, curiosity, and compassion. She consistently exhibits each of these qualities, in abundance, on a daily basis in the context of their relationship, her relationships with others, and how she shows up in the world. Her example consistently inspires him to be a better version of himself—period. Combine all of that with a predisposition for being in the great outdoors, and Mosi felt like being with McKenna was as natural as lacing up a pair of shoes to go run. Lastly, her chaotic energy ensures things never get boring.

What does McKenna love about Mosi?

As almost everyone reading this knows, Mosi is truly one of a kind. When Mosi first knocked on my door, I got butterflies in my stomach instantly. In the days following, I convinced myself that I was okay if we just stayed friends forever — I thought that if I had to choose between not spending time with him or being his friend and nothing more, I'd choose the latter. A few days later, I realized that there was no way I could ever watch him date someone else. Then we went on our first run together. Then he made me a candle. Then he prepared vegan Thanksgiving for the two of us (I am vegan, Mosi is not). Then he met my family, who fell in love with him just as hard as I had and just as fast. What I'm getting at is this: Just when I think Mosi can't possibly get any better, he somehow does. The list of what I love about him is unbounded and growing every day. As I write this, he carefully scoops the lunch he just made into Tupperware, whispering "all right" to himself as he finishes. What's not to love?

How did Mosi propose?

In 2021, Mosi signed up for a 100-mile race in Washington called Cascade Crest. When McKenna asked if he wanted her to come to support him, he said, "yes, and I want you to pace me for the last 30 miles." Around midnight, McKenna met Mosi at mile 70 and they began the last section of climbing, which is called "the needles" for its sharp ascents and descents. McKenna had a feeling prior to the race that Mosi might propose but then decided that there was no way he was proposing during the last 30 miles as he was in the top 20 overall and really pushing it up the inclines. Little did she know, he was just trying to make it to the top of Thorp Mountain at sunrise (mile 86). Mosi once again demonstrated his many talents by pacing himself to arrive at mile 86 at sunrise while running with the ring in his pack and arranging for McKenna's brother (Gavin) and sister-in-law (Lisa) to be at the top to take photos of their engagement! When McKenna turned around to see them emerge from the trail, Mosi dropped to a knee and was promptly cut off from saying anything when McKenna yelled "YES!" Tears were shed, lovely things were said, and the two of them celebrated by running another ~15 miles to the finish. To top it all off, Mosi managed to still place 19th overall!
