The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile red brick path winding through the most important historical sites in Boston. Although tours are available, it's totally free to walk the Freedom Trail on your own, and you can start or stop at any point. Some of the most iconic spots located on the Freedom Trail are the Boston Commons (the oldest public park in the US), the Boston Massacre site, Paul Revere's house, Old North Church, Quincy Market & Faneuil Hall, and the Bunker Hill Monument.
Fenway Park opened in 1912 and is the oldest major league baseball stadium in the country. While the food certainly isn't as good as at Citizen's Bank Park in Philly, it's still a fantastic and unique place to watch a game. Hopefully the Red Sox will be in town for our wedding weekend! But if not, check out Bleacher Bar - a casual restaurant located under Fenway's bleachers and looking out directly onto the field.
The New England Aquarium is one of our favorite places in Boston! Built around a giant four-story coral reef tank, it offers stunning views of rescued sea turtles, stingrays, and more. On the ground floor you'll also find several colonies of adorable penguins and a door leading out back to the sea lion exhibit. We went here on one of our first dates and considered getting married in their harbor-front tent, until we found out the rain plan would be to have the ceremony indoors on the penguin overhang.
The North End is Boston's Italian neighborhood, and it's a MUST for anyone who loves Italian food. There are so many amazing restaurants packed into its tiny streets that you really can't go wrong. For dessert, stop at Mike's Pastry for some of their iconic cannolis.
