We're calling the dress code "mountain casual." We'd like everyone to wear something they feel comfortable in, from sundresses to cowboy boots to your cleanest pair of jeans. Yes, Garrett will be in a suit and Morgen will be in white. Comfortable shoes are a must! There will be hilly terrain, gravel, dirt, and grass. Leave the stilettos at home for this one. If you've got a nice full brim hat, now is the time to rock it. Some face sunscreen and sunglasses are also a great thing to bring along to sunny Colorado. We would strongly encourage everyone to bring some extra clothes to throw on towards the end of the night if it starts to get cold.
Like most of Colorado weather, be prepared for anything. Our house is at 8,600', so we could see a hot, sunny day in the mid-70s or rain, hail, lightening, etc. Bring a jacket, bring a hat, bring your sunscreen, and be ready to party either way!
This event will be outdoors. We will have a large tent for dining and dancing, but like we said, bring warm layers!
Everyone can drive to the wedding, although if possible, please carpool as parking will be along our shared neighborhood road. Uber and Lyft will be extremely limited up here. However, we have a few shuttle/taxi services available if you'd like to schedule one ahead of time. Please see our Accommodations & Travel Page for more information.
Anyone is welcome to camp on our property (tent or car or RV) so they can party and chill after the reception! If you do plan on this, please give us a call so we can arrange space in advance.
Yes of course. This is a family friendly wedding. Just make sure to bring their dancing boots!
Unfortunately, no. There are a lot of benefits to living rurally but there are also some downsides. Google Maps does not recognize our address so please follow these directions below: From Durango: Head West on HWY 160 for approximately 13 Miles, past the turn for La Plata Canyon and about 2 miles past Hesperus Ski Area. Make a right turn on Gold Bar Drive and head through the gate. (This gate will be left open for everyone on the day of the wedding). Drive down Gold Bar Drive for 0.9 miles. Our driveway will be on the left when you drive under the large cottonwoods.
Obviously we are still living in slightly uncertain times so certain things are subject to change. With this being an open, outdoor wedding, and based on the CDC's recommendations we will not require face masks or have any specific social distancing in place. Although, please feel free to take any precautions that make you feel comfortable while attending. We will prioritize seating everyone adjacent to close family members at dinner. From the CDC: "Current data suggest the risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in outdoor settings is minimal. In general, fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask outdoors. Fully vaccinated people might choose to wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised." While we want to see all of your smiling faces on our special day, we would ask anyone who feels ill leading up to the wedding to please stay home. Feel free to reach out to us for any questions or concerns.
