Question

Question

What is a Lion Dance?

Answer

A Chinese tradition to wish luck to the newly weds, ours will be a Chinese Southern Lion. Be prepared for loud sounds (e.g. drums, cymbals) and audience interaction. Please allow space and only interact with the lion if it approaches you. Show respect to the lion, do not grab the horn or the mirror plate upon it's head, or smack it's butt (seriously). The Lion Dance team will consist of Morganne's childhood Kung Fu classmates, as Morganne grew up performing in Lion Dances. Red envelopes will be provided to "feed the lions." Please do not remove anything from the red envelopes. Do not give it anything white to eat. If you see an unused Lion do not touch it or jump over it's tail. Fun facts: the drumbeats are the Lion's heartbeat. The gong and cymbals help frighten away evil spirits.

Question

What is a Dollar Dance?

Answer

The dollar dance will take place shortly after the first dance of the newlyweds, after dinner. It is meant to help establish the couple in their new life together, show them how much they are loved and appreciated, and unite their two families. Our bartender will have a station set up with alcoholic and non alcoholic shot options. A recommended contribution is $1 per shot to then be able to dance with the bride. We will have a jar for contributions and a QR code for Venmo as well. Over the course of the one song, our bartender may direct you to non alcoholic options as the event proceeds. Please be respectful to our staff: Ostertag Vistas has a no shot policy, however, will be making a special exception for this tradition. Shots will only be permitted during the dollar dance and will be controlled by one of our licensed bartenders. You can participate as many times as you wish!

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

Unfortunately we are only able to accommodate children in the wedding party at our reception.

Question

Is there parking?

Answer

Parking is free and will be provided on site along with a parking attendant. Please follow signs to Ostertag Vistas and park in the grass as directed.

Question

How far is the ceremony from the barn?

Answer

If weather cooperates, the ceremony will take place in the Amphitheater in the valley behind the barn. Follow the path from the lower half of the barn down the slope. A staff operated golf cart will be available for those in need of assistance to the location.

Question

Can we uber/lyft to the wedding?

Answer

Please note that cell service and reception is very limited at the location, as it is tucked away in the mountains of Maryland. We cannot guarantee availability/accessibility of Ubers and Lyfts from Ostertag Vistas. We encourage you to check the apps to determine the safest way to and from this celebration. If possible, schedule a pick up in advance from the party (festivities should end around 9:30pm).
