Megan Tegyi

Maid of Honor

Megan is Angela's oldest friend, and also an only child, so she sometimes feel like my unofficial sister. Their mothers worked at Bethlehem Steel, and met when they were pregnant at the same time. When the girls were about 3 years old, they started having frequent play dates together. Megan’s house is exactly one mile from Angela''s parent’s house, but the friends have never gone to the same school! Although, they would walk to each other’s houses on snow days and in the summer. They grew up going to weekly dance classes, going to Dorney Park and the mall on weekends, and later visiting each other in college and beyond. Megan works as a Program Manager for VIA, a non profit that helps adults with special needs gain employment skills. She lives in Bethlehem with HER new fiance, Peter!

Douglas Cook

Best Man

Doug and Brian met on the ultimate frisbee fields right next to the Gettysburg battlefield way back in 2006 in their first year of college. During their time at Gettysburg they were each other's teammate, roommate and eventually fraternity brother. Plus, they also hung out with Rowdy, Doug's stuffed horse that he found at a Gettysburg thrift shop one afternoon. Doug was an obvious and easy choice as Best Man because he's been there for Brian for over a decade and the guys have so many great memories together. Notably, their Junior year frisbee spring break trip where the team split into 4 Harry Potter-themed houses and Doug dressed up like an owl to give out secret missions like eating a head of lettuce like an apple or never using the word "I" for the whole week.

Peter Bloom

Officiant

Peter and Brian also met on the frisbee team back at Gettysburg in 2006 and also was one of the founders of the Sigma Chi fraternity chapter at Gettysburg along with Brian, Doug, Sean and DJ. Following graduation from Gettysburg, Peter made his way to DC like Brian and the two grew closer over a shared love of football and cheap DC happy hours. Peter even discovered the bar that Brian's kickball team still frequents to this day! Even though Peter moved away from DC for law school, Brian and Peter stayed in touch over the years with visits back and forth to Chicago, Oakland and DC. An accomplished and successful lawyer practicing out of Oakland, CA, Peter was a natural choice for officiant given his previous experience, eloquent and thoughtful mind, and connection to both Brian and Angela.

Ashley and Dan Yarabinec

Spiritual Readers

Dan, Ashley and Angela are all proud Panthers and attended the University of Pittsburgh together. A strong friendship grew though their love of all things PITT (especially basketball), Pizza Hut, Harry Potter, karaoke and just general hilarious antics. The friends have made many trips together, most notably to London to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and then to Iceland! Angela had the honor a few years ago of being a bridesmaid in Dan and Ashley's wedding in 2014, at the Pitt Heinz Chapel. They are both pharmacists, great friends, practicing Catholics, live in Pittsburgh, and are amazing parents to ADORABLE little girl named Ella, two cats and one dog! Dan and Ashley have a strong, supportive, and loving marriage that is a great example to Angela and Brian!

Courtney Cook Naftz

Bridesmaid

Courtney and Angela met and became friends in first grade on the school bus, when they decided to have a breath smelling contest! They became inseparable, and always had classes together from that point on (though they usually weren’t allowed to sit or stand by each other because they talked too much). The girls spent childhood having the same obsessions (Spice Girls, Titanic, boy bands, musicals) and when they moved away for college and beyond, they continue to visit each other a few times a year. Courtney is a teaching artist/ audition coach, and lives in Astoria, Queens, with her new husband, Andy. Angela had the special pleasure to be a bridesmaid in Courtney’s wedding in October 2018, and it wouldn’t feel right if she wasn’t with Angela as she says , “I do”, to her “Jack”.

Patricia Boyce

Bridesmaid

When Angela first met Patricia, she was an ESOL teacher, supporting students in Patricia’s second grade classroom, for a portion of the day. Angela was immediately impressed by her apparent skill as an educator. Once Angela stopped being starstruck, she realized they both have similar senses of humor, same taste in Netflix shows and for trying new foods. It was the start of a beautiful friendship. Patricia has been an exceptionally supportive friend, whether it’s helping Angela with personal life problems, helping her become a stronger teacher, or helping her choose the correct cheese for a girl's night. Patricia has been an important part of helping Angela feel at home in Virginia, and the couple is so happy she is supporting them on their wedding special day!

Bethany Lemak

Bridesmaid

Bethany and Angela first met at Bethany Beach, when Brian took Angela “home (or on vacation) to meet the family” a few summers ago. They immediately bonded over a shared love of Harry Potter, the movie Hocus Pocus and the need for "on trend" clothing and accessories. Angela has always wanted a sister, and she is so excited to finally have one! Bethany, Brian and Angela had the extraordinary opportunity to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in NYC, and it was a really special memory. Bethany lives in Florida, and she is working this year to be a fully licensed Speech Pathologist. Brian and Angela are so proud of her hard work, and honored that she still has the time to help them with our wedding!

Sean Marz

Groomsman

While Sean plays frisbee now, Brian and Sean didn't meet on the frisbee field at Gettysburg! Instead, Sean and Brian met back in 2008 during the spin-up of the Sigma Chi fraternity. After college, Sean moved to DC and he and Brian ended up sharing a place soon after his move to DC. As the inaugural winner of Brian's fantasy football league, Sean's obviously a huge football fan. The Eagles and Saints don't play that often, but the guys' regular bet when the teams do meet is for the winner to buy the loser's drinks/meal, that way they both can go home happy, even if their team lost. Funny enough, Sean works in the wedding industry himself and has been an invaluable source of tips and expertise through the entire wedding process for Brian and Angela.

DJ Groff

Groomsman

Similar to Brian and Sean, DJ and Brian also met in 2008 during the spin-up of the fraternity, probably because Sean and DJ were roommates when Brian met them! After college, DJ moved to Philly instead of DC, but after enough badgering from Brian, Sean, and the other DC Gettysburgians, DJ made his way to the nation's capital. Since then he's been a regular fixture on the kickball field, the fantasy football league (despite being a Pats fan) and the occasional Nats baseball game when the Phillies are in town. Always quick with a joke (or sarcastic comment), you can count on DJ to liven up every event he's at. He's also been one of Brian and Angela's biggest supporters and both bride and groom are excited that he'll be in the wedding party.

Ryan Flaherty

Groomsman

Brian and Ryan met back in 2011 when Ryan and Brian both had rented out apartments in the same building. After a few parties, secret santa gift exchanges, fantasy football seasons, halloween bar crawls and connecting over their mutual past as ultimate frisbee players, the guys started playing kickball together with Ryan as captain. Since then, despite the team being championship-starved, every spring the team gears up once again for another 2 months of fun in the shadow of the Washington Monument on the National Mall. Ryan also is a superb Magic the Gathering player and Brian is a regular attendee at Ryan's quarterly Magic drafts. An extremely talented construction engineer, Ryan has been responsible for the construction of many buildings in the DC area, including the new Ballston mall.

Rowdy Cofield

Ring Bearer

Discovered by Doug at a thrift shop back in 2007, Rowdy's been a fixture (literally! you can sit on him!) at birthdays, frisbee team gatherings and now, funny enough, Brian and Angela's wedding. Brian and Angela both knew they had something rare and wonderful when they found they and their friends both had stuffed dolls they took to exotic places and took strange photos with.

Kareem Talented Sanchez

Flower Child

Kareem Talented Sanchez was discovered by a good friend of Angela's, Courtney Snow (formerly Sanchez) about 10 years ago, in a thrift shop. He was an abandoned child, in need of a family, and he has found one through Angela's group of nurturing friends. He has gone to college football games, beach trips, birthday parties, even engagement parties and wedding showers with his gaggle of mother hens. He especially loves to play dress up for themed parties and in American Girl Doll clothing. Looking back on their relationship, Angela realized she loved Brian, when he showed her his's friends "adopted son" Rowdy, and she knew he would understand the fun and humor of Kareem.
