Bethlehem was founded by the Moravians on Christmas Eve 1741. There are several buildings and small museums tracing Colonial Bethlehem and the history of the Moravians, who founded the city. Once you park, you can walk to most sites and be in the lovely downtown area. There's lots of excellent shops and restaurants.
Located on the southside of Bethlehem (the Lehigh River separates north and south sides of the city) the museum celebrates the legacy of key industries that helped build, transport and defend America, most notably Bethlehem Steel, long the second largest steelmaker in the country.
Bethlehem's version of New York City's High Line, the trestle is an elevated walkway along the rail lines that transported coke, limestone and iron ore to feed the ironmaking blast furnaces at the Bethlehem Steel plant. It runs 1/3 mile and features story boards that detail the operation of the furnaces and the history of the steel plant. Free parking and at the same site as the Industrial History Museum.
