We met on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University (just like Morgan's parents) probably over OWO, or Orientation Week Outreach, in August of 2015. Theo was a Senior Orientation Counselor, and Morgan was an incoming Freshman. On 9/29/15 at 3:06 PM ET, Theo slid into Morgan's DM's and asked if she'd like to come to a meeting of what would later become CMU's chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Black Campus Ministries. Morgan couldn't come to that specific meeting, but Theo and Morgan developed a friendship over the course of subsequent meetings, as well as through events of Joyful Noise (CMU's Christian a cappella group, of which Morgan was an active member and Theo an alumnus. Theo really stood out to Morgan when he fasted and prayed for Morgan to go to InterVarsity's Ignite (Black Campus Ministries) conference in February 2016, where Morgan recommitted her life Jesus.

During Morgan's Sophomore year of college (2016), she heard from the Lord to stop dating in college. She didn't know why at first, but as she began to go on this journey with Jesus, He revealed that she'd been putting her self-esteem in her relationship status, and needed to rebuild her identity in Him. Theo, who had graduated, popped back into her life in June 2018 at a mutual friend's wedding (shout-out to Melanie and Rauhit Seah-Ashur). Finally, a couple months later in September, Morgan and Theo confessed feelings over the phone, and they co-created an "intentional friendship". This began an 8-month-long period of getting to know each other with distance in-between.

After riding with Morgan's family from New Rochelle, NY to Pittsburgh, PA for Morgan's graduation from CMU, Theo asked Morgan on their first date!

Theo proposed to Morgan where it all started: InterVarsity's Ignite Conference in Detroit, Michigan. Theo performed a rap about their relationship at the conference's annual Open Mic Night, and ended the performance on one knee!
