Single rooms and group suites are available outside of the reservation block. September is the end of the float season, so rooms may be available even after the block reservation expires. If you are unable to reserve a room at the Rosecliff Lodge, please see the "Travel" section for alternative hotels in the area.
We're camping at Big Spring Campground, about an 8 minute drive from The Landing and Rosecliff Lodge. We've reserved a 40 person, non-electiric group site for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. If you're joining us at the group site, you don't need to make any reservations. There are MANY camping opportunities at Big Spring Campground, including electric sites and individual camp sites. Several other camp grounds exist in the area for those who would like a more private sleep setting. If you'd like help reserving an electric/RV site, please contact Seth at sethlanning@gmail.com.
This event is a "welcome event" for our guests coming into town, and an opportunity for us to spend time with you and socialize. A float trip is a leisurely trek down a river using a canoe, kayak, inner tube or other water vehicle, usually from one scheduled point to another. On Friday morning, we'll meet at the Rosecliff Lodge/The Landing around 10AM. You can rent whatever method you'd like to use to float down the river--options include tubes, inflatable kayaks, inflatable boats, and canoe. Each has different price points. Expect to pay around $30 per person. The shuttle departs from the Rosecliff Lodge. They'll drop us off at the launch point and we will float 9 miles back down to the hotel. On average, these last about 6 hours Individuals who RSVP to the Float Adventure will receive further information via email. This is a camping adventure with a wedding attached! Dress for the weather and activities. Honestly, we'll probably be the only ones dressed up! The worse you all look, the better we look.
The ceremony will be held outdoors in a reserved campsite/shelter area. The bride and groom will share vows in front of friends, family and an officiant. Missouri weather in September ranges from a low of 60 degrees to an average high of 80 degrees during the daytime. It is usually quite humid. We recommend you dress for the weather (and comfort!). Please bring a lawn or camping chair to sit for the ceremony and to attend the Taco Bar Dinner and Stories Around the Campfire events afterwards. Additional items you may want to bring would include anything for your comfort while attending an outdoor event or camping such as sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, towels or blankets, and a flashlight if you plan to stay late.
On Friday night around 6PM, we'll rendezvous at Las Margaritas Mexican Restaurant at 202 John St, Van Buren, MO 63965. The restaurant menu with options and pricing can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/LasMargaritasVanBuren/. (You also don't have to attend the float trip to attend this event, just come if you want great Mexican food!).
Come hang out with us after the Taco Bar dinner! We'll have some beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks/mixers for cocktails. This is a time to gather around the campfire and share stories, memories and just relax.
The Landing offers a host of activities geared towards children. You can swim, hike, or fish at any time (preferably not during the ceremony). Feel free to visit The Landing's website https://thelandingcurrentriver.com/ for more info on what the site offers for family activities. Glow bracelets and necklaces will be provided for night time activities to help you keep track of your people while they run around. For younger children, a water safety talk is worthwhile; the camp ground, ceremony and hotel are a few yards from the picturesque Current River.
Yes! A selection of fizzy drinks, juices, and water will be provided at the Pie and Coffee event as well as the Taco Bar Dinner and Stories Around the Campfire. Please be sure to select a primary drink preference when you RSVP so we can have enough for everyone.
Please see the "Call Anyone But the Bride or Groom" list (above).
Yes, please! When you RSVP to any event, please communicate your preference from the available options. Dinner Saturday evening will be a buffet-style taco bar, which means everything is DIY and optional! Taco meat options will include fish, beef, and pork. Vegan and gluten-free options will be provided. Please include your preferences in your RSVP. As a side note, rural Missouri is not often diet-friendly. We will not be offended if you bring your own snacks :) Let us know if there's anything you need!
Thanks to life (and a global event that shall remain nameless), this is the fourth time we've planned this wedding. It's happening, even if there's a damn tornado with a bomb cycle. We'll have arrangements for a tent, rain or shine. Neither the bride nor groom are rain shy. We may also shift the time of the ceremony. If weather requires an indoor ceremony, the parents of the bride are renting a small house (the Ines House) associated with The Landing.
