Our Wedding Adventure

What to expect during our wedding weekend

The ambition of our wedding weekend is to provide an opportunity for you to relax, unplug, and enjoy nature. All events will be quite relaxed. Aside from the ceremony, arrive when you want and leave when you're ready. Our main goal is to have a great time with friends and family! The weekend begins on Friday with two welcome events; the Float Adventure and the Welcome Dinner. Floating is one of our favorite outdoor activities. On Friday we'll meet and gear up at The Rosecliff Lodge (the hotel attached to The Landing: Current River). The float trip should last until the late afternoon. Friday evening, we'll meet at Las Margaritas Mexican Restaurant to officially welcome everyone into town. On Saturday, we'll gather everyone at our reserved camp space/shelter area and say our vows in front of friends and family. Immediately afterward, we'll serve pie and coffee. Feel free to hang out, fish, or swim until dinner! Around six, we'll have a Taco Bar--choose your own ingredients! We'll end the night with stories and drinks around the campfire.

Welcome to the Ozarks!

Van Buren, MO and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways

The 900 person town of Van Buren, MO is the county seat of Carter County. It sits in part of Mark Twain National Forrest and on The Ozark National Scenic Riverways. It was named for (then) Vice President Martin Van Buren. The Ozark National Scenic Riverways is a recreational unit of the National Park Service in the Ozarks of southern Missouri in the U.S.. The park was created by an Act of Congress in 1964 to protect the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, and it was formally dedicated in 1971. The park's 80,000 acres (324 km2) are used for many forms of recreation and are home to abundant animal and plant species. The park service promotes the Current River as one of the Midwest's best float streams, in part due to the contributions of some of the nation's largest springs. The headwaters of the Current River begin at the confluence of Pigeon Creek and Montauk Springs in Montauk State Park. Other notable springs along its course include Welch Spring, Cave Spring, Pulltite Spring, Round Spring, Fire Hydrant Spring, Ebb and Flow Spring, Blue Spring, Big Spring, and Gravel Spring. The park contains the United States' largest concentration of first magnitude springs (which are defined as having average flow of more than 100 cu ft/s (2.8 m3/s)) in dolomite rock. The only comparable spring collections are the limestone springs of North Florida near Gainesville and the igneous-based springs of Idaho's Snake River. [Wikipedia]
