Sarahjane and Morgan met so long ago that they don't even remember it. Still, by doing some estimations, they assume it was around 2009. They met as "helpers" at Julie Hauptmann's music and piano classes, where they both worked for many years, enjoying each other's company between classes while SJ had to reteach Morgan every piano piece before each class. Little did SJ know, Morgan was crushing on her the whole time while she was engrossed in her books and work. Over winter break in 2016, SJ's plans abruptly changed. Morgan came to the rescue to accompany her to the Mummies of the World exhibit at the HMNS, where she was delighted to have found someone who wanted to explore museums at the same snail's pace as her. From there, their friendship continued as they steadfastly denied their feelings for each other. Fortunately, they came to their senses in the spring. However, they consider the first museum trip to be the start of their relationship, as so little changed between then and when they admitted just how much they meant to each other. Through college, they spent their relationship long distance, with Morgan making frequent 12-hour drives (sometimes through the middle of the night in sleeting rain) to go up the mountain to see SJ. After having to travel between Tennessee and Texas, it was a relief to only be two hours apart during the Covid lockdown and Morgan's last year of undergrad. It was a dream once they were finally both back in Houston, and it feels like magic to live in the same apartment now. After almost 7 years of supporting and loving each other through growth and change, starting grad/law school, and raising a litter of kittens, Morgan proposed to SJ in their living room on the evening of 11/12/23. It was spontaneous (Morgan wasn't even holding the ring), emotional (both instantly burst into tears), and completely perfect. While they don't know what the future holds, if it is anything like the past 8 years, they know it will be an adventure full of laughter and tears, movies and books, museums and games, family, of the chosen, blood, and animal variety, and most importantly unconditional love. They want to thank you all for adding to the adventure so far and being there for future adventures.
