FAQs

Question

Can I record/ photograph the ceremony?

Answer

The bride and groom would like everyone to be present during the ceremony. They have requested that all cell phones/ cameras be turned off and put away in the ceremony space. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

The deadline to RSVP was September 30th. If there is any last-minute change, please email the Mother of the Bride at kinsershannon@gmail.com.

Question

Where is the Ceremony/ Reception?

Answer

The entire evening is held at the Lafayette Grande in Pontiac, MI. 1 Lafayette St, Pontiac, MI 48342. The ceremony starts promptly at 4:30 PM. Please arrive between 4:00 - 4:20.

Question

What is the suggested dress code?

Answer

The event is semi formal attire. If there is a chance of you taking a formal photo, the couple has asked that you refrain from wearing red. With one of the wedding colors being green, red will look "Christmas-y". Otherwise, all colors (including black) are welcome.

Question

Is it cold in Michigan in November?

Answer

Yes. There is a pretty good chance the morning will be quite cold in November. You should not worry about having a hat and gloves, but a warm jacket is a good idea. And yes, there is a small chance there could have snow.

Question

What is the venue layout?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are both at the Lafayette. Both are located on the 5th floor but there is an elevator for those who need the help. The building is historic and has many of the original fixtures in it so it is asked that the elevator is used by those who truly need it. The Lafayette also requests, due to the fact that there might be two events on the same day, that we stay in our ballroom the entire time.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Auburn Hills, MI is only a 10 minute drive east of the venue at most and will have the most options for hotels, food, etc. The bride's family lives in Brighton, MI but is a 45 minute drive west of the venue. The bride and groom live in Swartz Creek, MI but are also 45 minutes north of the venue. Auburn Hills is likely the best city for out of town guests. The bride and groom have reserved a block of hotel rooms listed on travel.

Question

What is the best airport?

Answer

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). Flint Bishop Airport (FNT) is also an option but is smaller.
