After being set up on an almost-blind date at Mon Ami on March 30, 2018, our lives were changed forever. We had instant chemistry and couldn't stop talking through two bottles of wine. The wait staff were closing the restaurant around us, but we didn't want the night to end. Erik was a complete gentleman and walked me to my car and said, "Goodnight and I hope we can do this again sometime soon." My first impression was: Wow, he is so handsome. I can't believe there is a guy out there with the same stupid and sarcastic sense of humor as I have, and he has great teeth! Erik's first impression was: Wow, she is super hot and her personality is the same as mine. I hope I don't screw this up - I might have talked too much. Through a handful of fun dates to dinner and a movie, many laughs and endless texting, we both knew how crazy we were about each other. Erik even cooked dinner for me at his house - my first time ever eating deer! We met each others' families and continued to fall harder and harder in love. The night Erik met my family, May 5th, 2018, we spent the night at my condo. Before falling asleep, Erik looked at me and said "I'm falling so hard for you" and I replied, "I love you, too."
Deciding to buy our first home together was such an easy decision to make. We tried to spend as much time together as possible, driving back and forth from Port Clinton and Attica. Living under one roof halfway between our hometowns only made sense. On January 11th, 2019 Erik had the perfect proposal planned. I arrived to the new house in Castalia after working to find that Erik had gotten all of our immediate family members to be there to help move in. I thought, "Wow! This is great - with all of these people here, moving in will go so quickly!" After unloading the moving truck, everyone went to the front yard to take pictures of us in front of our new home. While both of us held the "SOLD" sign, Erik got down on one knee and took both of my hands in his. I was shocked; the whole world seemed to stop in that moment. With our families watching, Erik asked me to marry him and of course the answer was, "YES!" Happy tears were shed, hugs exchanged and two people who had been waiting to find a soul mate were beginning the journey to happily-ever-after... We now have our home, two dogs, and fall in love with each other more everyday. I make him laugh, and he drives me crazy! But I wouldn't change it for the world. Being a nurse and a police officer, we help each other get through the ups and downs of our daily lives. We balance each other perfectly, love each others' families, and never take a day together for granted. We can't wait to say 'I do' on April 4th, 2020, surrounded by our family and friends, and start the rest of our lives as Mr and Mrs Kessler!
