FAQs

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

You'll find plenty of charming Airbnbs and scenic campgrounds nestled around the lake and the surrounding area. If you prefer a traditional stay, we’ve also curated a list of recommended hotels under our Travel tab.

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

For those flying in, Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) is the most convenient option and closest to the lake. If you are traveling via a smaller craft, Bert Mooney Airport (BTM) in Butte is also an option. Alternatively, guests can fly into Bozeman (BZN) or Helena (HLN), both of which are within an easy driving distance of the area.

Question

What Important things should I consider?

Answer

If you are flying in from Missoula (MSO) or Bozeman (BZN), we recommend renting a car for the most flexibility, as rideshares like Uber are rare in the Pintler mountains. Montana distances can be deceiving—the drives are scenic but often take longer than GPS predicts due to winding mountain roads. Keep a sharp eye out for wildlife (especially deer and moose!) at dawn and dusk, and we highly recommend downloading offline maps, as cell service can be spotty between towns. Because Georgetown Lake sits at over 6,000 feet, the air is thinner and the sun is much stronger. Please stay hydrated and wear sunscreen to avoid altitude sickness or mountain burns. Also, remember that alcohol hits a bit harder at this elevation, so pace yourself! Lastly, Montana weather is unpredictable; even if the day is warm, the temperature drops quickly once the sun goes down, so please bring a light jacket or layers to stay comfortable during the evening festivities.
