Our Beginning

10.26.2013

Morgan & Brooks crossed paths many times in the years prior to their relationship, sharing middle school classes together with questionable fashion-sense and unquestionable awkwardness, peaking in high school with their elite athletic careers, and not to mention, Morgan growing to be super close with his older sister, Bailey, as they went through blissful torture running track & field together for a solid 2 years. Despite the opportunity for countless interaction, Brooks never talked to Morgan and Morgan never talked to Brooks. Fast-forward to the summer before their senior year of high school, where Morgan bounced around with different friend groups, as her 4 years at Hereford were coming to an end. Morgan finally ended up in one of Brooks’ many friend circles, he copped her digits and SnapChat and it’s been good vibes ever since. Initially, neither of them wanted to be in a relationship going into college, but after months of talking and weekly dinner dates sponsored by Chipotle, Brooks asked Morgan to be his girlfriend at the night of their senior homecoming dance. Morgan & Brooks finished up senior year together, crushed it as prom king & queen, went to different colleges, tackled 4 years of long-distance, traveled a ton, moved in together, got a puppy, made the best memories in Baltimore, survived 3 years of grad school (S/O Brooks for the emotional [and financial] support), moved to Colorado, and are somehow getting married 10 years later.

The Proposal

12.11.2021

Brooks had one goal: surprise Morgan Morgan thought she was meeting her college roommate, Hunter, and her husband, Layne, for a quick lunch in the little town of Harpers Ferry, WV. Hunter & Layne live in NC, but Hunter told Morgan that she would be in WV for the weekend and insisted they meet for lunch. Hunter (also a fabulous photographer) texted Morgan on the way to lunch and said they were running about 30 minutes late. This is typical Hunter fashion (; so Morgan thought nothing of it. It was obviously Brooks’ idea to take a walk down by the water to kill time while waiting for them. As they were walking, Morgan noticed a girl prancing around in the woods with a camera — she turned to Brooks and said “Aw, she’s taking pictures of us, that’s cute”. Morgan took a double-take and realized it was Hunter. She exploded with excitement, just happy to see her college roomie for the first time in months. Brooks grabbed Morgans arm and kept pulling her towards the water, despite her wanting to go the other way to give Hunter a hug. Morgan finally realized what was going on… As Brooks was giving his thoughtful speech, Morgan was in complete shock, she basically blacked out during the entire proposal, cutting Brooks off halfway through by blurting out “I’m sorry, but I have no idea what you’re saying”. Brooks rolled his eyes, got down on one knee, opened a little brown box, and asked Morgan to marry him. Morgan didn’t even verbally say yes as her yes has been implied for years. Brooks’ goal = achieved
