Folding clothes. Not what most people consider to be a romantic introduction, but this is how Ben and Katie first met. At the time, they were working at Old Navy in Fairfax, Virginia. Ben was in his senior year at George Mason University and Katie had recently graduated from Christopher Newport University. Despite the early morning shifts starting at 5AM (Katie is NOT a morning person), Ben and Katie loved working together, setting up displays with all of the new clothes. Ben and Katie didn't start dating immediately. In fact, in the summer of 2014, Ben had moved back to his parents home while finishing up University, switching stores in the process. But one day, Katie texted Ben asking for help at her store. Ben couldn't help out, but suggested they get drinks another time. Quickly, drinks turned into ice skating at Reston Town Center and ice skating turned into dinner. Another date was arranged shortly after. They went to "The Zone," a fun bar with bowling and arcade games that awarded tickets for prizes. Skillfully, Ben managed to hit the jackpot on one of the games. With all of the newly acquired tickets, a prize could be selected...... A GIANT SLINKY! This was when Ben really felt like he had won Katie over. Date after date followed, but two recent college graduates couldn't keep living with their parents and working at Old Navy forever. Katie had been applying for graduate school and had been accepted to San Diego State University's Statistics Program on the other side of the country. Katie told Ben the news. Ben didn't hesitate, he was coming with her! Ben and Katie drove across the country on a massive road trip and began their lives in San Diego. They began their careers, made friends together, adopted a puppy (Winston) and a cat (Finnegan). After six years of dating, Ben proposed to Katie at sunset on a beach in Cabo, Mexico. We are so excited for our wedding and to see all of our friends and family!
