Maid of Honor
Maggie and Emily have been friends since high school band camp in 2010. They connected immediately, and sophomore Emily introduced freshman Maggie to her existing circle of friends by saying, "This is Maggie. She's cool." It's often noted how similar these two are, and Maggie has often been called Emily 2.0 by friends. One year they even dressed as one another for Halloween. Though Emily stayed in the Detroit area for college, Maggie was off to Michigan Tech. Even separated by distance, they remained close. Now, through several schools and moves, a handful of degrees, and many Snapchat messages, they are still best friends. Maggie and Will enjoy chatting about science and have decided that the PhD life chose them, unfortunately.
Best Man
Tim is Will's younger brother and best man. They are less than two years apart in age, so these two really grew up together. Tim is Will's best friend and his partner-in-crime, and as a result they have most of the same interests. They went to school together (two grades apart), were in marching band together, went to the same college, and spend lots of time enjoying craft beer together. Will and Tim can often be found together, hanging out with Emily and Tim's wife Kassandra. One of their favorite shared memories is when Tim proposed to Kassandra at Disneyland, when the four of them were there together in 2019. Emily also considers Tim a little brother, though Tim is actually two years older than she is. Both are younger siblings and know what it's like to have a mean older brother.
Bridesman
Emily and Zach met during their freshman year of college, when Emily walked into her dorm room to find a stranger on the couch. Her roommate introduced him with, "This is Zach. He's here to watch Jeopardy." From there, they found a mutual love of game shows and Hawaiian pizza that made them fast friends. Now, over ten years later, they remain best friends and can often be found on the golf course together. Emily hits long drives and has a terrible short game. Zach can't drive straight to save his life, but is a beast with a pitching wedge. Together, they make one acceptable golfer. Will and Zach often make jokes at each other's expense, but don't let them fool you. Since they met after Emily and Will started dating, they've been great friends and the jokes are mostly at her expense now.
Groomsman
Will and Jeremy have been friends nearly their entire lives, since they met in elementary school. As kids, they were in Boy Scouts and band together. As adults, they get together frequently for evenings filled with good food, even better beer, and ridiculous YouTube videos. They're known to their friends for their Beavis and Butthead impressions. Jeremy and Will are always up for a camping trip together, and have been on many with their friends. Don't be surprised to see them sitting around a bonfire, sipping beer, and reciting old Howard Stern bits or quotes from I Think You Should Leave. Though Emily was put off by the hours of impressions when she first met Jeremy, they're great friends now. They're often sharing craft beers with one another and making dad jokes that annoy Will.
Bridesmaid
Katie and Emily met in marching band at Wayne State. After a few days at band camp, they also found out they were going to be next door neighbors for that school year. They became close friends quickly, and could often be found playing Rock Band or listening to records (yes, vinyl records) in Katie's dorm room. Today, they hang out frequently and like playing bar trivia, trying craft beers, and playing Animal Crossing together. Will and Katie were basically instant friends. They met on Katie's birthday, when Emily brought Will along to trivia for the first time. Almost every time Will sees a great meme, his first contact is Katie. That's an unbreakable bond. Katie is also a talented photographer and took the couple's engagement photos!
Groomsman
Matt and Will met in elementary school, and have had a long friendship, including making poorly-recieved YouTube videos, starting "bands" that never took off, and playing more Guitar Hero than was thought possible. Matt and Will are often the masterminds of group trips, from camping to waterparks to pretty much anywhere. Emily and Matt bonded the moment they met, as Matt was wearing a shirt from Emily's favorite band, The Wonder Years. They often share music with one another and attend concerts together along with Will and Matt's wife Sam.
Bridesmaid
Kassandra is Emily's soon-to-be sister in law. Along with Will and his brother Tim, they spent lots of time together. The four of them are already family, the ceremonies just made it official. Their favorite things to do together include vacations to Disney parks, Oktoberfest at Frankenmuth, going to see the latest Marvel movies, and very competitive Mario Kart races. Will and Kassandra can often be found enjoying the evening as Timmy and Emily have drank too much by 8PM. Emily and Kassandra also share a love of Animal Crossing, Disney movies, and stuffed animals. They have lots of stuffed animals. Seriously. Too many probably.
Groomsman
Will met Joe in middle school when they were a couple of scrawny kids. Along with other groomsman Matt, they had a YouTube series that achieved limited success. Now they're a couple of scrawny adults, who both enjoy running 5Ks (and longer!) and playing retro video games. Joe may not be the loudest in the group but when he lets out a joke, you know it's about to be the funniest thing you've heard all day. Joe and Will are always the group's chefs when on camping trips together. While everyone else is sitting outside waiting to be fed, they're prepping burgers, pasta, or sandwiches for everyone. Emily and Joe share a love of Nintendo games, especially Pokemon. Emily also thinks Joe has one of the coolest Animal Crossing islands.
Officiant
Andy is Emily's older brother. Though they are nearly ten years apart in age, they have always been very close. As they often put it, "there's nothing to fight about." Andy influenced Emily's taste in music quite a bit through many ska and punk CDs played in his room and car. They have a shared sense of humor, and are especially funny when making fun of their mom together. Andy introduced Emily to craft beer, and they often share their newest finds with each other. Andy and Will's primary shared interest is laughing at Emily for being clumsy and ticklish. They also share a love of Nintendo games and playing fetch with the family's dogs.
Ring Bearer
Milo is the couple's nephew, the child of Emily's brother Andy and sister in law Rachel. Milo's favorite part of hanging out with them is that Aunt Emily makes great elephant noises, and Uncle Will is a master at playing peek-a-boo in Milo's puppet theater.
MC
Mitch and Emily met when they were seated next to each other in basketball pep band at Wayne State. They both hated basketball, so they spent the games joking around and even inventing their own rules to basketball to make it more interesting. Throughout college, they spent many hours together in classes and in the dining halls, where they would come up with ideas for a sitcom they have yet to write. Today they enjoy bar trivia and attending DCFC matches with their college friends. Will might tell you he hates Mitch. Mitch would definitely tell you he hates Will. That's not true however (maybe?). Bridesmaid Katie's partner Eric, Mitch's wife Lena, and Will have started a union of significant others from Emily's friends' college group chat to demand fair treatment. Expectations are low.
MC
Stephen lived across the hall from other MC Mitch in college. Mitch introduced Emily and Stephen at the dining hall, and the three of them spent many hours together during the years they were all at Wayne State. Stephen introduced Emily to single serve wine pods, which today remains one of their best memories together. They've also enjoyed plenty of meals and cocktails in Downtown Detroit together. They have a shared love/hate relationship with the Bachelor, and have a group chat with friends to watch, analyze, and mock together. Will describes Stephen as "delightful" and they have lots of fun playing Jackbox with a big group of friends.
Mother of the Bride
Laura is Emily and Andy's mom, and ring bearer Milo's grandma. Though she loves her son and daughter, her favorite kids have always been the dogs (Joey, Melvin, and Dixie). She is known as Mama Safety at work, and that definitely carries to her home. She is known for such phrases as "stay out of my kitchen" and "Shut the door; we're not heating Sterling Heights!" She is always present for her kids and wants them to be successful and independent people. She also bakes the best bread, and will always send you home with a loaf to enjoy. Laura loves to chat with Will about his studies and work in chemical engineering, as well as his interest in election maps. She only allowed her daughter to date other nerds, and luckily Will fit that description.
Mother of the Groom
Sharon is Will and best man Tim's mom. Will and Tim are absolutely both momma's boys, and Sharon loves to spend time with her two kids. She's also often seen with a very loud Jack Russell Terrier named Winnie. When not at home making the world's best Jell-O shots, she can also be found at the casino downtown. Don't worry, she's not always a sinner. She's also a regular church-goer, and practices her faith through being charitable and accepting of all people. Emily and Sharon once did pickleback shots together on New Years Eve, but they both got sick from the pickle juice and haven't had them since.
Father of the Bride
Marty is Emily and Andy's dad, and ring bearer Milo's grandpa. Known for his eccentric style and music taste, he is always interesting to talk to. He loves to spend his time golfing (often with Emily), and lamenting the once again terrible Detroit Tigers. He also enjoys computer games from the late '90s, spending time with his grandson, building model airplanes, and cooking. His potato salad is famous on three continents. Marty and Will often talk politics, and enjoy a rousing game of Castles of Burgundy or Ticket to Ride together.
Father of the Groom
Ed is Will and best man Tim's dad. He was the foundation of Will's love for science and engineering, and encouraged Will to pursue his degrees in Chemical Engineering. He also served as a Scoutmaster when Will and Tim were part of the Boy Scouts of America, which helped cement Will's love for camping and the outdoors Ed is the go-to guy if his kids need help with their cars or homes. He loves playing Mario Party with his kids and their partners. He kept Will's 2002 Taurus alive for far longer than a car that age with 212k miles should have lived. Ed and Emily are Euchre partners whenever the family plays together. They have proudly beaten Sharon and Will hundreds of times. Will and Emily also have great memories from kayaking and golfing together with both of their fathers.
Bride's Sister In Law
Rachel is married to Emily's brother Andy, and is the mother of ring bearer Milo. Though not related by blood, Emily and Will consider Rachel family and are happy to have her included in their wedding. She's an excellent baker, and her chocolate mousse cupcake frosting is a family favorite. Emily and Rachel both love the Disney character Stitch, the TV show Friends, and looking for ugly Christmas ornaments at Bronner's. Will and Rachel have the same taste in snacks. They believe nuts absolutely don't belong on ice cream and that Peeps and candy corn are both tasty. Emily and Andy think they're insane. Rachel is also an awesome dog mom to Will's true best friend, an Aussie named Rebelle.
Gecko
Taffy is the rescue leopard gecko owned by Emily and Will. She is part albino, so she's pale and has some vision problems (much like Emily and Will). She enjoys eating mealworms and waxworms, and hates being picked up. Her favorite person is Will, mostly because he has snacks.
