Will and Emily met on the dating app Tinder in the spring of 2015, while they were both in college. After a few days of chatting and getting along well, Will suggested they become Facebook friends. He neglected to mention it was his birthday. They officially met in person a few days later, at Starbucks in the Wayne State student center. It was Opening Day, and Emily skipped watching the game to meet Will, so she must have seen potential. Emily's friend Mike rolled into the student center (a little drunk from tailgating), and sat down with the two of them, not realizing it was a date. He sent several apology texts later. Will handled it amazingly well.
In the summer of 2021, Will mentioned that he wanted to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts because they hadn't been in a long time. He suggested going out to a nice dinner afterward too. Emily knew he was thinking about proposing, but did not take the hint at all. The day came on July 31. Since the DIA is in Midtown, Will suggested they make a stop at the reflecting pools. Again, not taking the hint, Emily was just worried they'd miss their ticket time at the museum. Once at the reflecting pools, they sat down, and Will popped the question. Emily blacked out from excitement and doesn't remember a lot of it, but she definitely said yes. Today the couple resides in Northville with their leopard gecko Taffy. They love spending time with each other and with all of their friends who have merged into one big group.
