How We Met

10.20.13

A classic story of two college freshmen taking a leap of faith and falling in love...3 doors down from one another in Ingersol Hall at Colorado State University. We got to know one another first through all of those silly icebreaker games and activities that all college freshmen have to go through! Then there were the more fun concerts, intramural sports, and adventures with the other people in our dorm we had grown close to. As freshmen, there was pressure not wanting to get tied down, and if we formed a relationship that then failed, it would have affected the whole dynamic of the people on our floor. If you ask Ryan, he probably has his awful roommate to thank for us getting together! Ryan started hanging out in my room more and more to avoid having to be in the same room of his terrible roommate at the time. More room hangouts led to more conversations, and talks that went deep and lasted ALL night. After multiple late-night chats, and that feeling that we had known one another for years...we couldn't deny our feelings for one another! We went out on our first date in October of 2013, and over 10 years later, here we are, falling more in love with one another as time goes on.

The Proposal

4.29.23

We decided to take a weekend trip up to Steamboat Springs as the weather started to warm up in the Spring. Ryan suggested that we take a hike up to Fish Creek Falls with Ryan's lifelong friend and now Best Man, David. David is the game warden up in the Steamboat area and brought his dog, Portage, and his camera along because of "work stuff". It was still pretty early in the morning and when we got to the top of the hike, Ryan asked David to take a picture of the two of us in front of the waterfall and that's when Ryan gotten down on his knee to ask the question he knew he wanted to ask for years. Sarah said "yes", we kissed, Sarah said "I haven't even had my coffee yet!" and all of a sudden Portage runs off into the woods. We all chased after him for just a second until we realize that he is chasing after a moose! Fortunately, we were able to get Portage to come back to us and the moose graciously decided not to attack, so we were all able to make it back down the hike and commence with the wedding planning.
