Matt and his best man Ryan have been close friends since high school. Matt became an addition to the Connolly family with how much time he spent at their house. Aubrey and her bridesmaid Nicole (Ryan's sister) met in college and lived together once they graduated and moved back to the cities. Over the years, Aubrey grew close to the Connolly's as well. Because of their close friendship with the Connolly's, Aubrey and Matt both attended Nicole and Ryan's uncle's birthday party in August of 2016. Aubrey's mom, Leigh, lived close by, so she stopped by. Leigh made herself right at home, sitting and talking to Matt for what seemed like forever. Aubrey approached the table and said sarcastically, "excuse me sir, is this lady bothering you? I can ask her to leave," at which Matt replied with a smile "no, we're fine." For those of you that know Aubrey and Leigh's relationship, you know Leigh was rolling her eyes before Matt could even respond. At the time, Aubrey was in the process of a breakup from a long-term relationship. Because of this, she expressed some concern, but also excitement on the way home telling her mom how cute Matt was and how he was so easy to talk to. Two summers had passed before Aubrey and Matt reconnected. Aubrey messaged Matt on Bumble in June of 2018, swiftly gave him her number, and suggested dinner. A week later they were on their first date at no where other than Rudy's Redeye Grill where Aubrey made Matt order a Rudytini! They closed down the place with great conversation, jokes and even a prank on Nicole by telling her it was going horribly. Here we are a looong 5 years later celebrating our time together and what's still to come with the people that mean the most to us!
