Things To Do

Explore Sugar Bowl

Sugar Bowl Resort, CA

Hiking, biking, swimming at Lake Mary! There's so much to do directly at the resort.

Donner Lake

Truckee, CA 96161

A fun lake for swimming & boating directly situated between Sugar Bowl and Truckee, a 10 minute drive from the Resort. You can rent wake boats, paddle board, or lounge at the beach!

Five Lakes Hike

Five Lakes Trail, CA 96146

Tricia and Keeley went hiking here over the 4th of July in 2023, and went skiing the next day! Awesome 5 mile lollipop hike near Alpine Meadows.

Palisades Tahoe Resort

Truckee, CA 96161

Palisades Tahoe features a lot of fun activities in the summer including a gondola to the top of the resort, hiking, disc golf, high ropes, and via ferrata course. Palisades was also home to the 1960 Winter Olympics! Palisades is a 25 minute drive from Sugar Bowl Resort.

Float the Truckee River

Float down the crisp Truckee River! A Lake Tahoe summer classic. The water flows from Tahoe City back towards Truckee. You can either book with a rental company or bring your own tubes.

Truckee River Bike Trail

Truckee River Bike Trail, Tahoe City, CA

Truckee River Bike Trail is a scenic 5 mile, paved & easy bike trail from Palisades to Tahoe City. Bike rentals are available at the start of the trail of HWY 89 and Olympic Valley Road or in Tahoe City.

Tahoe City

Tahoe City, CA

Tahoe City is a fun city on the northwest edge of Lake Tahoe, a 30 minute drive from Sugar Bowl Resort. We recommend checking out Bridgetender Tavern or Sunnyside Lodge! Just be careful, Commons Beach is small and gets quite busy.

Eagle Rock or Kaspian Rim Trails

3370 W Lake Blvd, Homewood, CA 96141

Our favorite hikes on the west side of Lake Tahoe! Tricia and Keeley lived in a ski lease in Homewood in 2021, and these trails were right outside of their back door. Both trails give you an excellent view of the lake. Eagle Rock is a 0.7 mile, out and back hike with 300 feet of elevation gain that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. It's a very popular short hike. Kaspian Rim is a much more challenging trail that is 5-6 miles and has an elevation gain of ~600ft.

Gar Woods Grill & Pier

5000 North Lake Boulevard, Carnelian Bay, CA 96140

A staple of the Lake Tahoe experience, Gar Woods is a great restaurant on the shore of Lake Tahoe in Carnelian Bay. Don't forget to get a Wet Woody. Go Bears!

Explore Lake Tahoe Beaches

Emerald Bay

Emerald Bay, CA 96150

The most picturesque scene in all of Lake Tahoe! Just make sure to get there early, it can get busy.

The Tahoe Gal

952 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA 96145

A paddle boat tour cruise on Lake Tahoe.
