Kona International Airport (KOA)

KOA is the airport closest to the venue and nearby lodging (approx. 20-25 mins) and has many flight options from the mainland. Car rentals are also available on site.

PACIFIC 19 Kona

Pacific 19 Kona is a boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Kona, newly renovated and reopened in April 2023. It is more of a standard hotel (as opposed to resort style) but has a nice pool area and is in a great location to access all that Kona town has to offer. (Note there are no TVs in rooms here). We have coordinated a room block with Pacific 19 Kona allowing guests to access a discounted rate. The link to access discounted booking is below (click the "view" button). The discounted rate will apply for reservations for any dates between May 1 and May 10, 2024. If you prefer to contact the hotel directly, please call 808.334.8050 or email aloha@pacific19.com and reference the "Feinberg - De Oca Wedding" room block. On wedding day, we will also be providing transportation from Pacific 19 to the ceremony venue, and later back to downtown Kona. The last day to take advantage of the room block rate is March 4, 2024, but reservations can still be made after this date. If you need more time to book a room, reach out and let us know - we may be able to work with the hotel on extending the rate.

Other Hotels & Resorts

If you prefer more resort style accomodations, the best options near our wedding venue are the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa (will be newly remodeled by our wedding), the Royal Kona Resort, and Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel (downtown Kona). However, we note these resorts are somewhat older properties, and due to the nature of the landscape, have limited if any beach access. For those vacationing and looking for a beachside getaway, our local wedding planner suggests staying in downtown Kona (e.g. at Pacific 19 or nearby) and enjoying the town for the days around the wedding, and then continuing your travels up the coast to the properties around Waikoloa for the best resort style experience. We do not recommend staying in Waikoloa during the wedding events due to distance from the venues (approx. 1 hr drive).

House Or Rental

Kona Bali Kai (VRBO)

Kona Bali Kai is a condo complex that is only a 5 minute walk to our ceremony venue. There are several well rated listings for units of varying room sizes on the vacation rental site VRBO. Just search "Kona Bali Kai" on vrbo.com to see available listings (also linked at "view" button below). Or email us at jillandjohnwedding2024@gmail.com and we can share a saved list with you (you will need a VRBO account). NOTE: airbnb is also an option, but it is more difficult to search by the condo complex name (and in our experience VRBO seems to have even more options on Big Island and less strict cancellation policies than airbnb). You can also look for other vacation rental options in Kailua-Kona on either vrbo.com or airbnb.com.

Wedding Day Shuttle

On wedding day (May 6) we will be providing shuttle transportation pre-ceremony leaving from Pacific 19 Kona and likely making other stops on Ali'i Drive (more details to come). We will also offer pre-ceremony shuttle pick up from Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa. These shuttles will bring guests to the ceremony venue (Kona Beach Houses, 76-6186 Ali'i Drive). After dinner, we will provide transportation for all guests to our reception venue (Papa Kona Restaurant & Bar in downtown Kona) for dessert and dancing. Those staying near downtown Kona (Pacific 19, Royal Kona etc.) will be able to easily walk back to their hotel after the reception. For others, we will provide return transportation throughout the night from Papa Kona Restaurant & Bar to locations south on Ali'i Drive, making stops as requested, including back to the Kona Beach Houses area, and as far south as Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa. We highly recommend planning to make use of our transportation service as taxi/Uber/Lyft options can be quite limited on Big Island, especially at night.

Travel Note

I Prefer Not to Drive on Wedding Day

Essentially, if you would like to avoid driving entirely on wedding day, we recommend choosing accomodations either in downtown Kona (e.g. at or walkable to Pacific 19), walking distance to the Kona Beach Houses (76-6186 Ali'i Drive) or at Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa. With the shuttle service described above, you will be able to party to your heart's content and get home safely.
