Bonjour, nos familles & nos amis! It's official: we're getting married at the Château de La Côte in Dordogne, France. We're renting the castle from July 7-12, with our wedding ceremony/reception on July 11th. There are 17 rooms and we'd love you to come stay with us! Please see the Travel page for information on how to get there.
On December 3, 2020, Mindy received a virtual audition request for the role of Barb in the film, "This Land." An hour or so after the audition, she received an email that she was offered the role and would start rehearsals in two weeks. The cast would include Adam, and their first "meeting" would be on Zoom for a read through of the script. Still during Covid times, the cast was sectioned off into smaller groups - and being Adam and Mindy were not in the same "family circuit," there wasn't much getting to know you time. There was the mention of the Beachbody fitness app - a collection of workouts that the two had both been doing for years (yes, we are fitness junkies). And the mention of Star Wars... After months of talking and Adam having started law school, Mindy finally popped the question, "Do you want to be in a relationship? I'm looking to build a life with someone and am giving you first right of refusal. But if you're not interested, I'm going back on dating apps." And the rest is history.
In August of 2023, we went to Italy for a vacation. Prior to the trip, Adam thought it would make a great place to propose...except he didn't have a ring. Quickly learning that it took a bit more time than initially thought, he decided he'd look into after they got back. October 2023 was our two year anniversary and Adam planned a lovely weekend in Santa Barbara, where Mindy thought, "Could this be it? Will he propose?" Much to her chagrin, the romantic weekend did NOT end with an engagement and caused some stewing and tarot card reading for the next couple of months...Except Adam HAD planned on proposing, only the ring he had ordered wasn't ready yet. In February 2024, Adam bought Mindy a "to do" for her birthday. She didn't know what it was, except that it was outdoors...and every weekend we would plan to do it, it rained and had to be postponed...it was postponed until June. It was a trip to Catalina! Adam planned a scavenger hunt, a zip line adventure, and then a hike to the top of the mountain where he was finally going to pop the question. The zip line was comprised of 5 different lines you take to get back down. After doing the first one, we were held up for over an hour because of a possible issue on the next line. Due to the delay, we didn't have time to do the hike before having to ferry back...thus delaying the proposal yet again. In July, Adam took the dreaded California Bar Exam and we wanted to go on a trip before Adam officially started work with his law firm (during school he had been clerking for them). Wanting to go everywhere and not able to pick a place, Mindy went with the least expensive plane tickets - Paris! And the thought that she couldn't set Adam up with a better place to propose, but with having graduated school in May and then taking the bar in July, when on earth would he have had time to get a ring? Hopeful dismay. On the last day of our Paris trip, after bumming around Le Marais and going to the Centre Pompidou, we walked back to the hotel with full bladders...Mindy told Adam he should use theirs and she'd use the one in the lobby and grab them some coffee. Mindy opened the door to towel swans and rose petals on the bed, with Adam crouched in the corner holding his phone...and then she noticed the ring. It couldn't have made for a better last day. Good things come to those who wait.
