Sugarloaf Ridge State Park - Planet Walk
A PlanetWalk is a 4.5 mile scale model of the solar system designed to fit within the boundaries of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Wear good hiking shoes, loose clothing, sun hat and bring plenty of water.
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
Those interested can hike through the park where the headwaters of Sonoma Creek runs through gorge and canyon, across the meadow floor, beneath scenic rock outcroppings, and surrounded by redwoods and ferns. A 25-foot waterfall flows after the winter rains. Within the oak woodland and chaparral, the park has 25 miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding.
Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic
Balloon excursions are a popular tourist attraction, but this annual event has been the county's foremost ballooning event since it began in 1990. The event, which has drawn as many as 18,000 spectators in the past years, was grounded by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, but it's returning in June to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds to allow for more parking and easier access from its original location at Keiser Park.
