Emerald Lake
This is a 40 min drive but not only is the drive spectacular, but you drive through the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab, can stop for coffee on there, and the lake is unreal. Lots of parking, take a dip into the chilly water if you dare, but it is as beautiful as its namesake. We will bring our paddle boards so please use them if you would like to paddle this gorgeous lake.
Maroon Bells
This hike is about 9 miles round trip. You will park in a field and go from a forested landscape to above the tree line to a spectacular ridgeline. The first 3/4 is milder, and the last 1/4 really gets you huffing. Whether you do the whole thing or just part of it is gorgeous and one of the most sought-after hikes in CO. The other side begins in Aspen, which is about 20 miles in total. It is our favorite hikes we have done in CO, and many will agree. It is not an easy hike!! But worth every huff and puff. Even just to the base of the steep ridge line. Chances are you will see moose, so be on the lookout (often in the distance, but moose can be scary...) The pic at the top of this page is Danny eating a sammie at the top of this hike.... incredible views!
COFFEE LAB
A fun area to check out. It is a gorgeous drive with lots of walking trails and a very cool spot where lots of ecological research is being done. Your coffee helps fund said research!
Lake Irwin
This is the lake near where we eloped. If you drive about 10 mins up the road past the lake, you will find our wedding "venue," aka the field we found at our absolute favorite dispersed camping location. This lake is serene, calm, and cold but beautiful. It is great for fishing, paddle boarding, floating, or just taking everything in. If you are lucky enough, you will see some moose along the way.
Kebler Pass
LARGEST ASPEN GROVE IN THE WORLD... (apparently, just recently, the one in Utah surpassed this grove, and there is still debate! But it is one of the largest living organisms in the WORLD!!!!... it is over 100 acres of gorgeous golden aspens) Whether you want to drive it or find some hikes, it is a can't miss. I will link multiple hikes from 2-10 miles within this area that will truly show you why we love this area of the world.

38.881465, -107.115566 If you are so inclined, these are the coordinates of the spot we declared forever together!!! Lake Irwin is on the way, Kebler Pass is just past here.. We love it; it is gorgeous. Spend some time in nature and enjoy the view.
Mount Crested Butte
You can take the lift up! Either to bike down or as a scenic ride.
Driving up 734 to Yule Pass Trail
You will need a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle. You will begin the drive leaving Crested Butte, driving through open graze cow pastures. As you ascent into the mountains the views become stunning. But the drive is not for those afraid of heights as multiple parts of the drive are narrow dirt roads with large drop-offs on the driver's side. At the top, you will be met with insane views of the valley, which lead to Crested Butte herself. At the top are dispersed camping stops, hiking trails, and small alpine ponds. If you want to take in the views, have the car for it!!!!!!, and don't necessarily want to hike, this is for you. Our Subaru Forester made the drive, but do not call me to come get you! We camped at the top of this road, made pizza over the fire, got harassed by some elk, and watched a snowstorm form over these mountains and settle on Crested Butte. It is truly magical. If I could have you all come up here for photos and pizza I would (-Monica).

Somehow you actually can find good bagels in the remote mountains of CO.
Gas Cafe One Stop
The closest thing to Henry Street in these mountains. IFKYK for those who don't know... bomb breakfast sammies and regular sammies. Yes, a gas station [in the most picturesque gas station].
