Travel Note
We highly suggest looking over the plan your visit page on the National Parks Services website. This will provide greater detail on lodging and shuttle options in the Yosemite area and surrounding communities.
Travel Note
YARTS provide shuttles from various locations around the Central Valley to Yosemite. Our hotel, Cedar Lodge, in El Portal, has a stop along the blue line, HWY 140 route. This route travels from Merced to Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. From Fresno, you would take the yellow line, HWY 41 route, from Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) to Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. From the Visitor Center, you can take the blue line, HWY 140 route back to El Portal. YARTS would also be a great option to take both into the park for our ceremony, and out of the park to our reception at Cedar Lodge. Parking is available at Cedar Lodge for guests of the wedding, even if you do not stay at Cedar Lodge as your lodging option.
Travel Note
YNP offers free shuttles that travel throughout the Yosemite Valley Floor. If you are trying to see multiple attractions within Yosemite Valley, these shuttles provide a quick an easy way to get around, without the hassle of moving your car and finding a parking spot at another attraction. Traffic can get quite congested during peak visitation months.
Flight
Fresno Yosemite International Airport is one of the closest airport options. It is small/medium sized airport, with lodging options directly adjacent to the airport, multiple rental car companies attached to the airport, and access to YARTs shuttles to Yosemite National Park. More information on access to YNP from FAT can be found at https://flyfresno.com/national-parks/
Flight
MCE is the nearest airport, but also quite small. Merced is a smaller city than Fresno, but still has amenities such as hotels and car rentals, there are also multiple bus routes that can transport from Merced to the El Portal/Yosemite Area ( https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Merced-Airport-MCE/Yosemite-View-Lodge-El-Portal#trips ). Flights into Merced are only Available through Las Vegas (LAS) or Hawthorne-Los Angeles (HHR)
Flight
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is a medium sized airport, that is a bit further than both Fresno and Merced. Sacramento is the State Capitol, and is a larger city than Fresno. However, its larger size than Fresno Yosemite International Airport means greater flight availability. It is accessible to public transport, via bus, AMTRAK, and YARTS (More info on getting from SMF to YNP can be found here: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Sacramento-Airport-SMF/Yosemite-View-Lodge-El-Portal#trips )
Flight
SJC is one of the farther airport options, but is a large airport with more flight options. Via car, it is 3.5 hours to drive to El Portal. This drive passes through both the Coastal mountain range (via Pacheco Pass) and Sierra Nevada Mountains, so you must be comfortable with driving in these conditions should you choose this route. There are train and bus routes available, which can take 7-10 hours. ( https://www.rome2rio.com/map/San-Jose-Airport-SJC/Yosemite-View-Lodge-El-Portal#trips )
Flight
San Francisco is the farthest of the airports listed, but also the largest with the most flight options. Transportation from SFO to YNP will be similar to traveling through San Jose, with driving through potentially foggy conditions and mountain passes. Drive time is 3h 40 mins. Other transportation options include Bay Area Rapid Transit trains (BART), busses, and YARTS shuttles ( https://www.rome2rio.com/map/San-Francisco-Airport-SFO/Yosemite-View-Lodge-El-Portal?search=San-Francisco-Airport-SFO,Yosemite-View-Lodge-El-Portal#trips )
