It is believed (by my mother) that Monica and I may have first crossed paths in March 2000, when my family took a trip to Melbourne, Australia, which is where Monica was born and spent part of her childhood. Given the actual size of Melbourne and overall logistics and luck, we deem this story to most likely be untrue, however fate eventually brought us together during the most memorable and not-so-romantic time of our lives, the COVID-19 Pandemic. After moving back from NYC in 2020, Monica hopped on Bumble and started swiping. She must not have been paying attention because she swiped right on me and we matched! After a five-hour first date consisting of socially-distanced barhopping in Denver, it was clear to me that this felt different. Fast forward through the best year and a half of my life eating Filipino food, enjoying the Michigan lake life, and exploring the country together, we took the next step in our relationship (or maybe skipped a few) and bought a house in the fall of 2021! Over the course of a few months, we both managed to go through several moves from our respective apartments to a temporary apartment, before finally settling into our home in Denver. However after all of the chaos, we thought to ourselves "well, what the heck", and decided to add a very hairy, golden child into the mix.... Butters! Butters has been trashing our carpet and slippers, while capturing our hearts ever since we brought her home on Halloween 2021. After a year of potty training, hosting MSU BBQ parties, gardening, and more acts of domesticity, I knew that I wanted to make things even more official with Monica. Seeing that I had two options for when I could propose to her before the end of 2022; one being a trip to East Lansing to watch an MSU football game, and the second option being a two-week vacay across Europe over Thanksgiving break... I decided that it was in my best interest that I chose the latter option. On 11/22/22, Monica said "yes" to being my future wife at Giant's Causeway in the coastal countryside of Ireland, a place she had always dreamed of visiting, with her sister as our witness and photographer! Following the theme of finding ourselves in random places across the globe, we look forward to adding Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to our story when we tie the knot in 2024. We are very excited to start this next chapter in our lives and celebrating with our family and friends whether it be in Mexico, Michigan, Colorado, or elsewhere in the world!
