We met in 7th grade. Fate put us on the same school bus.
We went on a 'standard' trip to Portland, Maine for a few nights. Little did I know, Jack, my family and friends had a BIG plan up their sleeves. Jack's plan all along was to propose on Saturday of that weekend so that we could go home to a surprise engagement party. However, Jack is terrible at surprises, started panicking and pacing around the room during the first night after we got home from dinner. I walked through the door and asked if everything was okay and at that moment, he got down on one knee and asked for my hand in marriage. Unfortunately, that meant on Saturday I wanted to go home and see my family early to 'casually' celebrate. Although I was pushing to go home ASAP, Jack, who is also terrible at stalling, was trying to avoid going home too early as there was pure chaos happening at home. Everyone was preparing for our arrival which included my dad building a whole new set of stairs a minutes before we got there. Both families were running around frantically getting things decorated and moving cars to another location down the street from our parents house so to not give anything away. When we pulled up to the house I noticed the street was quiet and couldn't wait to surprise my family with the news. When everyone jumped out to yell 'surprise' I was in awe and excited to have so many people I love in one place celebrating together! We are so grateful for our family and friends for helping put the party together and keeping the weekend a surprise. It was one we will never forget!
