Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Molly Harmon and Corey Emmons
For those coming from out of town, you're in luck: Maine is absolutely magical in the summer! We have listed some of our personal favorite spots, and other classic spots you won't want to miss while you're visiting!

Our Personal Favs!

Here are some places that we frequent, or have special meaning to us!

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

2 Fort Road, South Portland, ME 04106

Spring Point is Molly's favorite lighthouse, and was also the place where Corey proposed! Located on the SMCC campus in South Portland, the lighthouse has a 900 foot granite breakwater which creates a fun challenge when you're walking out to it. You can also walk down to nearby Willard Beach from Spring Point, or take a mile-long path to nearby lighthouse Bug Light.

Mackworth Island State Park

Mackworth Island State Park

Andrews Ave, Falmouth, ME 04105

Located just outside of Portland in Falmouth, ME, Mackworth Island is an amazing spot to take a walk and get a different vantage point of Portland and Casco Bay. The walking trail is 1.5 miles long and has many opportunities to find secret beaches, rock hopping, and even a pet cemetery! Parking can be tricky during busy times, but it's worth it!

Portland Observatory

Portland Observatory

138 Congress Street, Portland, ME 04101

Located at the top of Munjoy Hill, the Portland Observatory is hard to miss! If you like history (and aren't scared of stairs) they have a wonderful tour. If you make it all the way to the top, on a clear day you can see for many miles out into Casco Bay!

Shays Grill Pub

Shays Grill Pub

18 Monument Square, Portland, ME 04101

Shay's is our regular hang out spot both together and with friends! With $6 martinis, talls-for-smalls beer on Fridays, and delicious friend chicken sandwich specials, how can you go wrong???

The Great Lost Bear

The Great Lost Bear

540 Forest Avenue, Portland, ME 04101

The location of our first date! We ended up shutting the place down, and Molly may have had to step on a large rock outside to give Corey a smooch :) There are also up to 60 beers on tap at any given time, and an eclectic and large food menu!

Gilberts Chowder House

Gilberts Chowder House

92 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101

Our favorite spot for chowder and fried seafood (their bread bowl of clam chowder is a personal favorite)! If you can get a spot out on the deck in the summer it's well worth it...Just watch out for the seagulls...

The Maine Souvenir Shop - Portland

The Maine Souvenir Shop - Portland

2 Exchange Street, Portland, ME 04101

If you're exploring downtown Portland, don't forget to check out The Maine Souvenir Shop! All items in the store are created by Mainers, and Molly and Corey's friend Josh works there. If you go in, tell him we said hi!

Other Spots Not To Miss!

Here are some other great spots to check out!

Portland Head Light

Portland Head Light

1000 Shore Road, Cape Elizabeth, ME 04107

Maine's most iconic lighthouse is just a short drive from Portland. Located in Fort William's park in Cape Elizabeth, Portland Headlight is a must-see! The park also boasts lovely trails along the rocky cliffs, abandoned forts to explore, and a children's garden. Portland Headlight is about 20 minutes from Portland and 45 minutes from New Gloucester.

Casco Bay Lines

Casco Bay Lines

56 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101

Hope the ferry to Peaks Island, or take the Mail Boat run to get a closer look at many of the islands that dot Casco Bay!

Sebago Lake State Park

Sebago Lake State Park

11 Park Access Road, Casco, ME 04015

Sebago Lake is the 2nd largest lake in Maine and the state park has several miles of hiking trails, and is a wonderful place to go swimming! If your accommodations are more inland, Sebago Lake can be a great alternative to the ocean beaches. Sebago Lake State Park is about 45 minutes from Portland, and 35 minutes from New Gloucester.

Range Pond State Park

Range Pond State Park

26 State Park Road, Poland, ME 04274

If you're staying at the Poland Spring Resort, Range Pond State Park is just stone's throw away! It's a great place to swim and kayak, and also has several hiking trails.

Maine Wildlife Park

Maine Wildlife Park

56 Game Farm Road, Gray, ME 04039

If you've always wanted to see a moose, look no further! Just a town over from the wedding venue, you can go visit many of Maine's native animals at this wildlife park before coming to the ceremony.

Sabbathday Lake Shaker Villiage

Sabbathday Lake Shaker Villiage

707 Shaker Rd, New Gloucester, ME 04260

The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village is home to the last active community of Shakers.
