Our favorite "grab a coffee and stroll" trail, highly recommend! The paths line each side of the river and are lush with greenery. The address here is the LBL parking lot we recommend to use if you're driving, then head to the right when you walk onto the trail. The Lou Neff Point is a beautiful photo op location along that trail!
Our favorite area for casual cocktails, breweries, and live music is the 6th St strip in East Austin. Whistler's for cocktails (and a Mezcal speakeasy upstairs when the red light is on), Lazarus or Zilker brewing for beer, The Lucky Duck and Hotel Vegas for live music and a huge outdoor venue. And Shangri-La as a favorite too! (At night the bars get pretty packed with bach and weddings in town in March/April, so try to get there early or, there are SO many great bars here just keep exploring!)
We know you'll want to get some BBQ in while you're here. Terry Blacks is a top experience! Long lines but worth the wait. A few others worth checking out are La Barbecue, Stubbs, or Salt Lick (which is a bit of a drive, but beautiful venue, BYOB and usually live music!)
Highly recommend getting on the water for an hour or two, it's beautiful and, if you can time it for the Bats coming out at Sunset, might be one of the most iconic Austin activities there is. (Note, there are a few places for rentals! But this one's right off of a riverwalk trail, and relatively easy parking.)
A great 2 in 1, there's a small trail entrance right next to a TacoDeli! Start or end with lunch at an iconic Austin taco joint, and take a hike in the Greenbelt. The trail is pretty rocky, but follows the river and is a beautiful area to explore
If you know us, you know we love coffee shops. And this one holds some core memories for both of us. Beautiful outdoor (and indoor) coffee shop on the river, usually with live music going as you sit under the Oak trees with your coffee and croissant. This one represents everything we love about this city.
True to its name, Arcade and Cider bar, unlimited game play for $10 entry! Great ciders and pizza, and every arcade game from pinball to racer, guitar hero, DDR, they have it all. (One note, very crowded on Sat and Sun morning- early afternoons for birthdays)
