The First Date: (Morgan) Our first date was at Halcyon in Downtown Austin, 7 years ago. Jay ordered tabletop S'mores, we talked over White Russians, and we were smitten. It wasn't until our third date that I admitted to Jay that I was only in Austin for another month until I started my job in San Francisco. But we didn't miss a beat. We took advantage of every minute of that month together and then after 3 months of long distance, Jay packed a bag and we moved in together to explore the new city in lockstep, just as we had in Austin. The Proposal: (Jay) Originally I wanted to propose on a Eurotrip. Somewhere beautiful in Europe, with fireworks, probably a few drinks, and in the middle of a damn good time. Covid knocked out the eurotrip part, but for the better: she wanted to plan a trip with her best friends from college, who I'm good friends with already over the years. I asked if I could bring mine--we were gonna do an adult tour of Disney World (less Mickey Magic Kingdom castle, more wine and staying up late at all their bars). One of the parks is called EPCOT, which most people don't realize is a 3 mile diameter circle around a body of water. Around this are 12 different "countries", from Italy to Japan to Mexico and more, each with food and drinks. They also throw the best fireworks show at 9pm. Me and my two best friends took the "around the world" tour where you have a drink at each country, and the girls did their own thing for a bit. We all met up at "Mexico" for some quick tequila (I wasn't sloppy! we spread out the drinks over the day) and went by the water. The girls knew this was the moment, so did the guys. Morgan didn't know at all. 18 minutes in, the firework show hits a spot where a massive firework slowly flies over the lake. I said "alright everyone, it's time", and they all got back to start recording and taking pictures. I said some words to Morgan, and then---all at once, every angle of the circle in the park shot a canon of fire in towards the lake. That's right when I dropped the knee and asked her to marry me. You wouldn't believe the video my friend caught from it. Pictures below! The Day to Day: We have a damn good time, let me tell you. In fact, what we do doesn't really matter--we don't even plan it half the time. Me, her, a bottle of wine, and we're laughing together, exploring wherever we are, and just rolling with it.
