Our Story

It All Started With A Swipe

Matt and Kenzie met on Tinder, a dating app, while Kenzie was attending MSU and Matt was starting his career at the State of Michigan. After a few weeks of talking and Kenzie accidentally giving Matt the wrong phone number (oops), they decided to give a real date a shot. Matt took Kenzie to East Lansing's finest establishment, Coral Gables, and then they spent the evening on a self-guided tour of the city. They spent hours just talking and laughing, and have been inseparable ever since! After Kenzie finished nursing school, she and Matt decided to move to Grand Rapids and start a new adventure together. Matt proposed after a festive day at Frederick Meijer Gardens admiring Christmas trees from around the world and a lovely dinner at Wheelhouse with both of our families. We went back to Meijer Gardens after dinner to see all the twinkling lights outside, when Matt "found" a Christmas present under a tree and got down on one knee! After wedding plans went awry in light of the pandemic, Matt and Kenzie attempted to make the best of the situation they found themselves in. They spontaneously adopted a sweet goldendoodle puppy, Koda, and bought a house! After lots of stress and many changes, wedding plans are back on track! They are so excited to FINALLY make things official!

The Coronavirus Saga

Our Final Wedding Date

Our original date was May 2, 2020. When the COVID pandemic swept the nations, leaving executive orders, closures and uncertainty in it's wake, we decided to postpone to August, 2020. With the health and safety of our guest being the most important thing to us, we have decided that it is best to move the wedding, yet again, to June 12, 2021. We also just recently changed our venue to an open air barn with lots of space outdoors to allow for a safer celebration! Unfortunately, this also means downsizing our guest list. We will not be able to extend an invitation to everyone on our original guest list, but, we would like to thank you all for your understanding and support throughout this crazy process. Don't worry, this wedding WILL happen, the third date is the charm! We can't wait to celebrate!
