Matthew caught Monica’s eye and stole her heart on the dance floor. Both were shy and didn’t speak at first. Eventually, Monica worked up the courage to say “hi” as Matthew walked by her table. She was red-faced and embarrassed, but she followed him on Instagram afterward. Unfortunately, Matthew didn’t acknowledge her request for weeks. Then, by chance, they both attended a different line dancing event. With only a few people in attendance, they were practically forced to talk. That night, Matthew finally asked Monica to dance. On his way home, with the help of Sarah, Matthew found Monica’s Instagram request and realized he had never accepted it. He promptly followed her back, and Monica accepted right away. From there, their love story began. Although both were busy with school and work, they tried to make time to get to know each other. Eventually, they realized their schedules left them spread too thin, and they felt the Lord calling them to stay friends and focus on Him instead. Monica and Matthew poured themselves into their faith, their schooling, and their hobbies, taking time to truly discover who they were. They continued to see each other at line dancing events and would catch up weekly. Monica started to notice when Matthew was late and realized her heart was growing fond of him. One day, her mom sent her pictures of puppies, suggesting she get one. Unsure if she could handle the responsibility, Monica sought wisdom from her gram, her best friend Jamie, and—out of the blue—texted Matthew to help break the tie. Gram said yes, Jamie said no… and Matthew said yes. That "yes" brought Cashew into their lives. From that moment, they were back in touch, and there hasn’t been a day since that they haven’t spoken. Their love was patient and in step with the Lord. Today, Monica and Matthew continue to trust in Him as they journey forward into the sacrament of marriage.
