The central dining and drinking hub of Portland, the Old Port is full of character and easy to explore. You’ll find great restaurants, cozy coffee spots, and lively bars, many tucked along cobblestone streets and right by the waterfront. It’s a perfect area for strolling, shopping, and enjoying views of the harbor. Some local favorites: Arabica Coffee Company, The Highroller Lobster Co., Blyth & Burrows (cocktail bar), Standard Baking Co., Duckfat (famous French fries!), Eventide Oyster Co., and Luke’s Lobster Portland Pier.
Known for its outlet shopping, Freeport is home to the flagship L.L. Bean store (which features a larger-than-life Bean Boot), along with many other well-known brands in a compact, walkable downtown. Freeport is only a 20 minute drive from Portland, making it a great option to spend a morning or an afternoon.
Allagash is one of our favorite breweries in the Portland area! They brew traditional Belgian-style beer and offer tours where you can taste the beer at different stages of the brewing process.
We got engaged on top of the Bubbles (the mountains featured on our save-the-dates!) in Acadia National Park in July 2025. This place is very special place to us and we've spent many memorable summer days here. Mary Margaret spent her summers growing up camping in Acadia with her family and it’s where she first fell in love with the outdoors. The park is known for incredible hiking and coastal views, and the nearby town of Bar Harbor is a picturesque New England coastal town. About three hours from Portland, Acadia is a classic Maine destination for those looking to extend their trip.
