We met playing pickleball! I (Rebekah) had taken up pickleball after moving to Dallas and met a great community of friends. One of those friends (thanks Anna!) knew Zach and invited him to come play shortly after he had moved back to Dallas. We saw each other regularly, but really just co-existed as acquaintances in that group for about a year. Neither one of us had the other on our radar. In 2024, our group started traveling together and taking some weekend trips outside of our weekly get togethers. Those trips were ultimately what opened the door for us to spend more time around each other and get to know each other better. During the summer of 2024, we both individually started to notice the other. We took a group trip to New Braunfels and Zach invited me to go down a day early with a smaller group as a way to get to know me better. That weekend of roadtripping, conversation and time spent together kickstarted things for us. Over the course of the next month, Zach started showing up in my circle a lot more. He initiated playing together at pickleball, helping me with random things and finding ways to talk. He asked me on our first date in September. While it may have taken some time for our friendship to grow into something more, it didn’t take long after we started dating for us to realize we had found our person. Almost a year later, we’re getting married and both agree that we’ve never been more sure about anything.
