In modern times, the idea of meeting your ideal partner in the wild is just as it’s described. WILD. Mix that with the astounding number of Chicagoans, multitude of places and events, massive array of cultures and attitudes, unlimited cafe’s, foodtrips, gyms, shopping malls, clerbs, you name it…finding your person in this magnificent city is about as easy as getting outta lower wacker at 2am after shots of malort. Low and behold, modern times call for modern measures. ONLINE DATING. THEE APPS. Neither of us had any real luck and at the same time, neither of us really gave it a real chance. That is, until I stumbled on her Hinge profile. That smile. That’s all it took. Yeah…I read that she liked coffee. REALLY HOT coffee. Even till now, if it doesn’t melt the mug, she don’t want it. And I like coffee, so naturally we are made for each other. But it was that damn smile that got me. One so captivating, I couldn’t help but scroll past only to scroll right back to see her smiling at me (that’s what I felt like). So of course, I made the swiftest swipe and built up the courage to slide into the Hinge DM. It started with the usual prerequisite of superficial question asking and semi-mild text flirting until she agreed to finally meet. Our first dinner was at Pasta Bowl in Wicker Park and it is something I will never forget. And that's saying something as I forget almost EVERYTHING. All cheesiness aside, I had fallen in love at first sight. It was so obvious that I literally stood up as she entered, double glanced at her, looked her up and down and said stupidly… “Stephanie?!” as if our meeting was not 100% planned. It was then I saw that beautiful smile in person and I knew she was the one for me. Fast forward to the present day and we are still, very much, the unique individuals in each profile but are now part of a relationship that prioritizes intention, protection, communication, security, empathy, compassion and most importantly, love. We have grown exponentially as a couple by continually discovering, challenging, and uplifting one another with every learning opportunity. Our dynamic compatibility has fostered a healthy, beautiful relationship that we choose each other for now until eternity. We would be forever honored in sharing our lifelong commitment in marriage with those closest to our hearts.
