How We Met

9.18.2020

Neither of them could have possibly known that the person they had just matched with on Tinder would become their partner for the rest of their lives. Even more unlikely was for this romance to bloom during a global pandemic. To be fair, Jonah's profile had a great opening line: "COVID-free teacher living in NYC". Their first kiss was at the Harlem pier. Jonah, ever the romantic, mentioned that as a former lifeguard at sleepaway camp, if needed, he could save Meghan if she fell into the water. Despite knowing this, Meghan STILL wanted to jump into the water because of how nervous she was about that first kiss. She was relieved when it went smoothly and was even a little magical with the sunset in the background. Their first date ended up lasting 7 hours, and all of Meghan's friends were calling and texting her fervently to make sure she was still alive! By the end of the date, Jonah was having a hard time letting Meghan get on the bus to get home. They missed 3 busses before Meghan finally went home.

The Proposal

7.29.2023

Jonah and Meghan had been living a life of adventure lately, teaching in Israel and exploring the beautiful country with Jonah's family. After working hard and dealing with lots of screaming children for weeks, they were ready for a magical trip to Egypt. They had been anticipating this part of their trip since before they even arrived in Israel. Jonah explained to Meghan that he had planned a photo shoot at the pyramids since he wanted them to have amazing photos that would last forever. She was already feeling suspicious, but she went along with it anyway. As the photo shoot began, the photographer, named Yasmin, was getting some great shots and talking about the fabled history of the ancient wonder. As the couple reached the prime-time location for photos, they mounted their camels, Michael Jackson and Mickey Mouse, and made their way to a special spot with the three main pyramids, as well as a caravan of camels walking by, as the background. As Meghan stood there facing Michael Jackson, Jonah was directed by Yasmin to go around and get down on one knee. Meghan was then told to turn around, and when she did, Jonah was waiting on his knee with the ring of her dreams in his hands. Jonah told Meghan that he wanted her to be his best friend for the rest of their lives, even though she already was. He also apologized for the proposal coming so late, even though, as he always liked to say, it was an appropriate amount of time. And when she heard those words, "Will you marry me?", she broke down into tears of joy, being sure not to let her mascara, or the camel, run away from her.
