Priest Lake, 4th of July Weekend, 2015. A tradition of Marcus' friend group of spending the Independence Day weekend hanging out at the lake was in full swing. Since some of the normal attendee's could not attend, Mollie Roy (now Mollie Weber and a fellow recipient of the Priest Lake Magic) had invited some of her co-workers (including Lauren) to the join in the getaway. While the two groups took awhile to warm up to each other, nothing broke through the ice quite like Marcus tipping a canoe 3' from shore. This earned him the name "Sir-Tip-A-Canoe" and is still saved as such in Lauren's phone to this day. Throughout the weekend, Marcus and Lauren slowly gravitated towards each other, and through time together, ended the weekend watching fireworks on the beach together.
May 5th, 2018 Our proposal story starts a year earlier while vacationing with Marcus' Family. During a normal Settler's of Catan board game trading session, Lauren set into motion what would be the foundation of the proposal. When Marcus asked her if she "Had any stone" (a resource in the game) she casually looked at her left hand and said, "No, I don't seem to have any stone." A resounding burn for sure, and one which was repeated throughout the next year whenever the game was played. Skip forward to the proposal day, a pre-planned game night where all the guests were in on the plan and only Lauren was oblivious (miraculously). During the course of the 2ND GAME (ask Lauren about why not the first game) Marcus finally was able to get Lauren to ask him for stone, at which point he said "I have a better stone for you" and proceeded to get down on one knee. Lauren, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (making her a professional observer of behavior) was so surprised that she said "Hi, I wasn't expecting this." Marcus proceeded to pop the question and Lauren said "Yes!"
