"God just told me that you are going to meet your future wife on this trip!" - a woman exclaimed to Jacob before leaving for his 11-month mission trip. Hannah announced by video, days before Jacob's trip was launching, that she would be the leader the squad was waiting for. Jacob saw the video and immediately was interested. Meanwhile, Hannah was unexpectedly packing to leave for 4 months in Central America. She thought she'd be in Colorado those 4 months until she was asked days before launch to lead this trip. That day, God said, "Go!" So, she went. Little did she know that her last-minute yes to go would bring her to Jacob. Day 1 overseas, Hannah was journaling to God about her interest in Jacob. One of our first memories together was joyfully running down a volcano in Guatemala like children. Later, in a small town in Costa Rica, we played soccer into the night fellowshipping with locals and sharing the Gospel. Our heart connection was unlike anything we'd ever experienced before. Nearing the end of Hannah's time leading the squad, Jacob and Hannah sat on a bench in the Christmas-lit city center of Granada. Jacob shared that he wanted to pursue a relationship with Hannah. For both of us, this was uncharted territory. It was what we waited for. It was the faithfulness of God. Not to mention we had similar passions, goofiness, taste in music, and wonder for life. We spent 7 months long-distance dating. During that time, Jacob became a leader for his squad, and Hannah went on another mission trip. Both of our teams unexpectedly served in Albania and with Ukrainian refugees in Romania. Jacob was in Albania one month before Hannah. We happened to be placed in neighboring small towns in the same mountains of Albania! We both saw people come to Jesus who had never heard of him before. One week, Hannah began to consider serving long-term in Albania. That same week, some of Jacob's first words on a phone call with Hannah were "would you ever consider moving to Albania?" Currently we are in Colorado and sometimes down in Texas, enjoying our families, each other, and anticipating our big day and potential future in the mountains of Albania.
