Travel

Montauk is at the tip of Long Island. There are beaches, hiking trails and a charming walkable downtown. Below is a list of centrally-located lodging options. If you are not renting a car, we recommend staying downtown. If you will have a car, there are many other options, including Air B&Bs. Getting to Montauk: Car rentals are available at the airport. The LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) and The Hampton Jitney (a bus) connect NYC and Montauk. From JFK there is a 10 minute train to the Jamaica LIRR station in Queens. You can also take a taxi to the Queens Airport Connection stop of the Hampton Jitney. From LaGuardia you can take a taxi or bus to Jamaica and take the LIRR, or a taxi to the Queens Airport Connection stop of the Hampton Jitney. There is also a smaller airport, MacArthur which is the closest to Montauk. You can take the LIRR from the Patchogue stop near the airport. LIRR Long Island Rail Road

The LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) has NYC stops in Manhattan and Queens and goes to Montauk. See note above for transportation to LIRR stations from JFK/LaGuardia/MacArthur. There are several trains that run to Montauk throughout the day. Be sure to check an up-to-date schedule via the MTA App or online at https://new.mta.info/schedules.
