Our Story
We met in 2014 as graduate students at the University of California, Riverside -- when Miranda led Jeshua's welcome tour for newly admitted Ph.D. students! We had a few classes together, but didn't become close until...
Sometime in 2016, mutual friends (two couples) invited us each (separately) to join their pub quiz team, "Unexpected Dickens." Every week at Geeks Who Drink, we annoyed our teammates by talking with each other about pop punk, video games, and other shared interests while our friends tried to concentrate on actually winning the game. Our team generally came in second place, though we were occassionaly able to beat our arch nemeses, a table of grad students from the entomology department.
In retrospect, it should have been obvious that we had crushes on each other, but it wasn't until 2019 that Jeshua's friend finally convinced him to ask Miranda on a date. All it took was one fun hangout at the feminist cider bar, and we've been inseparable ever since.
