Bride
I've never been good at describing myself, but if I had a to pick a few things, I'd describe myself as ambitious, proud, and carefree. These may not seem like they fit together, but somehow they do. Oh, and I'm lazy goth. I've been playing video games since I was a kid, and to this day I play a lot of video games. Some of my favorites include the Mass Effect Trilogy, the Sims, Animal Crossing, and The Last of Us. I started playing as a percussionist in elementary school, taking after my dad. I played until just after my senior year of high school, when I led Seckman's high school marching band in the national fourth of July parade in the capitol. Currently, I am working in a busy emergency room and start nursing school in the fall.
Groom
Describing oneself is difficult when you really have to think about it. For me, I would say that I am a dedicated, hardworking person, that strives to reach my goals. For years I've really tried to hone my discipline and focus to keep in line with what I want in life. Work and life really does need balance to make you feel accomplished. Of course you need to have fun when you can. In my free time I love to play video games. Dungeons and Dragons with my friends and spend time with Miranda's dogs. Along with that I'm learning more about my career field of IT. Not all that I do for my career is work thankfully. I get to learn more about technology and the future of how we will work with it and using that to my advantage to grow in my field.
Mother of the Bride
Not only is she a badass at work, but she is also a badass mom who keeps the household in check. In all seriousness, my mom is so incredible. Without her, our household would have crumbled; we don't know how to operate without her. She is talented, able to multi-task like nobody's business, is caring, fun, bubbly, and arguably has the best sense of humor in the family. I am blessed to have a wonderful mother like my mom. I am so proud of the woman she has become and am incredibly grateful for all she has done for me. Even though we've had more than our fair share of spats, she is my best friend and confidant. I couldn't ask for a better mother than her. Plus, I get all my good looks from her.
Father of the Bride
My dad is a big, tough, intimidating looking guy. His tattoos, his beard, his size, his motorcycle, and his style all mean business... but don't let that fool you. An all-around family man, my dad is one of the kindest, most understanding, and loving men that you will ever meet. To put it blunt, my dad is a teddy bear in a scary guy's costume. There has never been a time in my life that I have never felt supported, because he has always been there for me. I know, regardless of anything, that I can call on my dad and he will have my back. I am so grateful to have a father who provides for me, protects me, and loves me endlessly. If you see him, make sure to compliment him on his "tats".
Brother of the Bride
Michael and I have a nearly 10 year age gap between us. Luckily, that hasn't prevented us from growing close. I always say that having Michael around keeps me young. He keeps me on my toes and doesn't let me forget that it is good to have fun every day. At the same time, it has been such a pleasure watching him grow and mature into his own person. I hope that as we age, we stay just as close as we are now. He'll always be my little brother, even if he isn't physically smaller than me.
Sister of the Groom
Over time Phebe and I have gotten closer as siblings. She and I are quite different in most aspects of our lives but we're still siblings nonetheless. We've gone on different paths with our lives but we've done quite well for ourselves. I've got my career at Stifel Nicholas and she's got her job at Boeing. I've recently found that Phebe is getting more into video games and maybe that is something she and I could do together in the future.
Mother of the Groom
My mom is a very strong woman and has done a lot of work raising 4 kids. Even though there's 20 years difference between her first and second set of kids. She has worked hard to provide Phebe and I with fantastic lives and the lesson of hard work pays off. She's tried getting us to be artsy since she loves her quilting and sewing. I never really showed much interest in being artsy. Thankfully Phebe showed interest in it that way she at least has one kid that shared the same hobby as her. One fun thing I know I can say about my mom, if you have any old clothes that you don't want anymore she can definitely make you a quilt out of them.
Father of the Groom
My dad has done a lot for me. He put me through college and my entirety of school before that. He really showed me how important it was to get through school so that I could have the life I want. He's been a great advice giver and a teacher. All that you could ever want in a father. Even after our family hit some hard times he did a job that he did not enjoy to help our family make it. And I'm very happy to see that he's retired and can enjoy his life the way that he sees fit. I'm glad that I'll get to have both him and my mom at the wedding before they move to Arizona to really start both of their retirements.
Friend of the Bride
Randi and I have been inseparable for the past 17 or so years. She is my sister and my platonic soul mate. She is my person that I can go to for literally anything, and she is my person that I can talk to about literally anything. The bond I share with this incredible young woman is something I don't share with anyone else. I am so blessed to call her my friend!
Friend of the Bride
Nicole and I met in first grade and have been very close ever since! We are the type of friends that won't speak to each other for months, but pick up like nothing every happened when we speak again. I am so grateful for this kind of friendship because it allows me space, but also comfort knowing that regardless of what happens, she will always be right there. Some of my most notable moments with Nicole include; 1) I didn't share my chalk with her in 1st grade, and in response, she wrote "Kill Miranda, Signed Nicole" on the sidewalk in retaliation. 2) I was able to convince her that I was a vampire, Twilight-inspired skin sparkling and all, during the 6th grade. 3) Walking drunk into a gay bar when Nicole tripped and fell, exposing her underwear that said, "No Boys, No Problem".
Friend of the Bride
Kayla is the mom friend of my entire friend group. She is always the most responsible, most reasonable, and most accommodating of all my friends. During hard times, she is the voice of logic and reason, always able to ground me, keeping me calm. For this, I am eternally grateful. I'll never forget meeting her in 4th grade summer school, commenting on the wild frog on her desk, and then becoming locker partners in 7th grade. It was fate! Some of my favorite memories include; 1) Watching her crawl up a tiny parking garage ramp in Nashville while totally wasted. 2) Nearly tipping her grandparent's golfcart while off-roading in the middle of nowhere, Michigan. 3) Her letting me use her Truman State University cap and gown for my own community college graduation.
Friend of the Bride
Olivia is the newest friend in my friend group, but she plays just as big of a part as everyone else. Olivia is our hype man and creative. She is always the one to encourage us to go wild or chase our dreams, even if they seem unattainable. She streams videogames weekly, and has gotten pretty popular. Her confidence to stream is an example for us all; it isn't easy being vulnerable online and live, but she does it anyway! I am grateful for her, as she is a reminder to stay true to my desires and to be confident in who I am!
Friend of the Groom
Jill is a fantastic person to play Dungeons & Dragons with. She's done things in our campaigns that I didn't know someone could do. She's brought a lot of fun to our friend group and showed us what life is like on her farm. I never would have experienced processing chickens without her in our lives. She's a great wife for Alex, she plays video games, loves reading, and works in I.T. as well. She has showed our friend group that a lot can change in a matter of a few short years. She's been a great addition to the friend group and someone I'm happy to call my friend.
Friend of the Groom
Alex has been a very close friend of mine since my sophomore year of high school. We met in an English class where we were paired up one day to discuss Lord of the Flies. Since then we've found that we have more common interests such as books, video games, and we're even in the same career field of IT. He's been a great friend of carrying me through English courses throughout high school and helping me understand different aspects of technology that I've never encountered. I had the honor of being at his wedding when he was getting married to his wife Jill at Pieces. And now I get to have the honor of having him and his wife at Miranda and I's wedding.
Friend of the Groom
Emily has been a recent addition to the friend group from Conner, but she's fit in super well. She has a similar sense of humor as the friend group and she enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons with us. She has been to significant events with our group where she's seen Alex and Jill get married, been over to their first home and helped them work on the farm either doing yard work or helping process the chickens. She's a wonderful partner for Conner and I'm very happy that they will be here at another significant event for our friend group.
Friend of the Groom
Connor and I have known each other since high school. I believe that we met in a history class that we had together during our freshman year. Over time he's made his way into our group of friends through playing video games, birthday parties, Dungeons & Dragons, and significant events. He's a great friend and a wonderful partner for Emily. I'm very happy that he and Emily will be present to witness Miranda and I getting married.
Friend of the Groom
Derek I have known since I invited him to my birthday party sophomore year of high school. That was really the first time he and I hung out. Since then we had sleepovers at his place, been to 2 concerts together, and completed college with our Bachelor's degrees. He's been on adventures with us both in video games and in Dungeons & Dragons. He's been included in all significant friend group events like Alex and Jill getting married, them getting their first house, and now he will witness Miranda and I getting married.
Friend of the Groom
Cole I have known the longest out of our group of friends. He and I have known each other since kindergarten at Frohardt elementary. We didn't go to the same middle school, but since high school, we have been good friends. He's been to birthday parties, part of our video game squad, and a player in our Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. He's also been an officiant for other friend's weddings in the past. He was for Lauren and Dalton, Alex and Jill, but this time we did him a favor where he can just be a guest. We are very happy to have him here with us on the day that Miranda and I get married.
